Another one from regionals -

I rolled a 1 for init (first init of the game), and was excited to bring in 40 pts of reserves, even got them all out and ready. . . until I realized that was wrong.

I rolled a 1, and the MTB made my opponents roll a 1 as well. So therefore we tied, and had to re-roll. So we re-rolled and I did not roll a 1, so I didn't get reserves. He rolled higher as well. So I lost init AND didn't get reserves.

Just wanted to make sure we did that right.

Traditional thinking on San/Nute + MTB was you either win init, or you get reserves (NTMTO or opponent having an MTB too aside). But I guess you only get reserves if you roll two 1's in a row, and your opponent doesn't roll a 1 the second time.

Also - piggyback question. How does the MTB interact with an enemy tactician? If your opponent has a piece with tactician +4, and you bring an MTB, does that make your opponent always roll a 5? So if you rolled a 2,3, or 4 you would lose? Or does it trump the tactician and still make it a 1?

In your first situation, you did it right.

For your second senario, Tactian +X gives the player a +X to any Initative roll except on rolls of a 1. So if you have a MTB and your opponent has someone with Tactian, then they won't get the bonus to their initiative because the MTB makes them count as having rolled a 1 for initiative.

Jester is correct on both counts.

Cool - looks like the designers already thought of that, and if I would have read tactician - it would have been clear.
