When I am replacing the mini, what square does the new mini start in? Does it actually "replace" the mini in the same square or do I set it up anywhere in the starting area essentially re-setting up the "new" fig after I have seen my opponents set-up?

Replacing, it occurs specifically after set up (both players as I understand it). So it goes directly into the replaced minis spot on the board. Makes for some potentially sneaky options on occasion.
