I'm not old enough to have had that Princess Leia crush, although I was ecstatic when I first heard Natalie Portman was going to be in Ep. I, given my celebrity crush on her at the time (still think she's the bee's knees :))...

To be fair to Carrie, she apparently did a lot of drugs when she was younger so that can't be too good for your looks. Looking at some of her more recent pictures, what she should do is grow her hair out a bit more and make a few wardrobe changes, both of which really make her look a lot older than she really is.

I just watched 30rock: I think you should all google the word "Acting."

What does acting have to do with having your childhood memories of someone shattered and broken when you see that person looks like he or she has completely let themselves go? Get a grip, man; this was the first time I had seen her in something since the late 80's. It's not like she's had a widely-popularized acting gig recently.

Frankly, I don't see why you are getting all defensive about this subject. Chill.

they frumped her up and made her a total freak job for the role she was playing. Jeez.

They didn't do her any favors. Better for her if she had had a cameo.

Okay, this is more like the Carrie Fisher I remember.

She guest starred on a couple episodes of Smallville a season or two ago, and looked pretty good at the time.

Who's defensive? It's just rediculous that you guys saw the show I did and it hasn't even occured to anyone to state the obvious: her appearance and mannerisms were changed so that she could play a role in a tv show. It's like seeing Harrison Ford in a fat suit and claiming he got fat since RotJ. I mourn the death of common sense on the internet.

Hey now, she looks pretty good. She's 53 and she has put herself through a lot, eating disorders and drugs to name a couple. As far as the Patricia Heaton comparison goes, Heaton has definitely had some work done and it doesn't look like Fisher has so not the best comparison.
