Yes, I was the one who asked Ray. Bummer lol.

I understand, when I first thought of using him it was right after R&R came out with Maul SI. I teamed maul up with Popsicle Han and the first issue was who got to place Han. Next I Cloaked Maul and never once even tried to get to Han with the thinking that if I never release him then I can never lose, but it just makes games go to time and it's you who can't score any points and the eventual winner who is by far ahead in points with the kills of the other oppontents. It's just a mess, and impossible to finish a game regardless of what the time limit is.

But the real thing that I took from your post,
Your playing in this as well?
Do you have your own team or are you teaming up with Ray?

Yes, I only entered 4 events this year at GenCon, and this was one of them. Team 'That's what she said' HAD 3 players, although I found out yesterday padawan Hinkbert defected to that Lukewarm team. Matt Spry and I will be looking for a 3rd player now.

Two years ago team 'That's what she said' (Matt Spry, Me, David Weeks) was cruising towards victory but was derailed in the final round by team Canada.

Awesome. This should be a great turnout then.
With my count, we have

Team Royal Rumble
Team Luke Warm Taun Taun
Team That's what she said
Team Two guys and Dan beat off in a corner
And Ray's team (that has yet to be named)

15 players, 5 teams and we have yet to hear from Canada, Danville, or Atlanta yet. If we get those 3 to get involved and have 8 teams playing then this should be tremendous. Oh and we never heard if Michigan is making a team.

Now known as the Luke Warm side and adds additional spice for the event.

I will be driving to GenCon this year with 2/3 of the Luke Warm Taun Taun team. I really hope they don't smell that bad on the inside.

And Jake, it isn't 15 yet... we still need a third for our team.

Maybe just start a thread saying you need one more guy. I'm sure you'll find someone.

Ps - I encourage anyone to try and get Canada, Danville, Atlanta, and Michigan to make up teams and this could be 1 hell of a fun event.
Well it's going to be anyways, I just don't want to see those guys miss out on a great time.

We decided we needed to be more specific about emplacement in this format. Updated page 1 - characters with emplacement must start with their entire base within 6 squares of their phase in door.

FWIW, I think I might be the only Canadian SWM player at Gencon this year. Last year it was just Eric Frost and me, and this year Eric isn't coming. And I now live in the States, so do I still count as a Canadian?

Anyway, what I'm saying is that there will be no Team Canada this year; we'll leave our 2-Time-and-Back-to-Back victory record up there for another team to try and match. :)

Good question. Were you an American Citizen that got dualed moving into Canada, or were you always a Candian citizen trying to get an American citizenship now?

I am a dual citizen. Born in Canada, Naturalized into the States at a young age by my American parents.

Then no, you only count as a Canadian while in Canada.. :D I imagine the laws have only gotten stricter and I know at one time, the US didn't recognize the dual citizenry...I imagine it's still the same???

We played a Royal Rumble as a fun event during the 4th Annual Chicago League 1670 GenCon prep mini Jedi Challenge/Sith Trials/Championship tournament.

Royal Rumble went well, and due to an idiot (me) forgetting to restart his watch after a rules question, we didn't get an accurate time for it. If time had run out Jake would have won, if time had NOT run out I would have won. Good thing we won't be playing against each other in Royal Rumble at GenCon, since we will be both on TEAM ROYAL RUMBLE, smoking everyone else!

2 very minor rules clarifications I am proposing:

They have to do with my concerns of games not finishing in time.

First - two 2 hr rounds, instead of two 1hr 45 min rounds. (Every other tournament has Four 1 hr rounds, so this makes sense for us to have two 2 hr rounds).

Second - Instead of giving points to everyone for their remaining characters on the board when a game goes to time - only give points to the remaining surviving characters WHEN A GAME FINISHES COMPLETELY. This will encourage more aggressive play. The former rewards multiple surviving players, while the latter only gives points for KILLS, with a bonus to only the LAST surviving player.

What is the community's opinion on this proposition?

Before I make a decision on if I should implement the following changes or not, I was wondering what others opinion of this was.

I believe Tim has a valid point but could also see people against changing this due to there style of play in Royal Rumble and the fact that gen con and this RR team championship is only 2 weeks away.

So I am giving everyone the chance to state there opinion on this matter before I make my decision.

All posts on this matter will be taken into account.

Thanks.

1. Yes. I think increasing the time limit to 2 hrs per game is a good idea.

2. Yes. I agree that a player should only get the bonus points if the game finishes before the time limit; it encourages aggressive play, which is exactly what Royal Rumble is all about. EDIT: Please see the quote in my sig: I think it applies to RR players too. :P

Yes on both accounts, there can and should only be "One" left standing.

I concur on both. I was actually quite shocked at how long the games can actually last so a slight increase will be welcomed.

I agree as well with what everyone said.
It is now official,
2 hour rounds
and you only get points for remaining figs if the game finishes before time.

I have spoken and it is set for Gen Con.

Forgot to mention this - could anyone who has the Rattatak Arena (AKA Royal Rumble Map) bring it to GenCon? Especially those of you playing in the tournament. I want to make sure we have enough maps to play on. I don't happen to have 10 sitting around.
