With the new set, the force unleashed, comming out, Vader's apprentice will do a few things for B&B, and for the imperials in general. All of this is speculation, but my predictions are based upon Mara, Jedi, and how jedi are supposted to get much, much better for the point cost, to compensate for melee attack. Also, vader's apprentice is even more powerful than vader himself with the force. He can cast force-lightning, and who knows what else.

1. He will bring out an incrediable force-user, with force powers and special abilities rivaling Mara, jedi, LV, bane, ect. for the cost of around mara, jedi, or Anakin, sith apprentice. He will not have as much HP or defense as Kun, but will very deadly. He even may be a glass cannon. But he has a good chance of replacing vader if he is what I predict he will be.

2. He frees up about 20-40 points in a traditional B&B squad, which can be used to get Lobot and a storm commando, or more stormies.

3. This brings B&B more power against San hill squads, because San may no longer have the activation advantage.

4. He will be very intersting to use with RS Palpatine.

5. In 200, he may be combined with Anakin, sith apprentice for two cheap, but deadly beats to dish out more damage. Then the squad will probably be filled out with stormies, Mas, and Thrawn.

6. He may have synergy with Vader, which will make for some intersting squad builds, especailly with Vader, COTS.

7. He may have a CE that will make the empire more interesting ( though unlikely, beucase he has to kill the troopers he comes in contact with, to maintain his secrecy in the game. This is pretty much the opposite of being a commander )

If anyone has any comments, or any other points of prediction, post them here. This is ALL SPECULATION, so don't take my geuss as fact. It is an educated geues, however. I could be completly wrong, although I truthfully believe he will be somewhere around what I've posted above.

The secret apprentice won't take away san's activations advantage, if Anakin SA couldn't then the secret apprentice won't.

You dont need the activation advantage to beat San now with Lord Vader. Ive done it several times. However, I fully expect the SA to be a good B&B fig along the lines of the OP.

I also expect him to have force push which combined with another Imp force user in 200 might offer some incredible options.

Yep. Palpy as a Force battery will be awesome with a mid-cost Force user with some quality powers.

Okay, how strange would it be for TSA to not be able to be in the same squad as Palpatine??? I doubt they would, but it is fully possible! That would make it very interesting.

We will see how it works out. Keep in mind, there is likely to be a new Vader, along with the potential for a new Palpatine (looking at the Force Unleashed toys that are upcoming).

As I mentioned in the other Force Unleashed thread, I think I may finally replace Palpy SL in my overwhelming swap. It will succeed darn it!

Is it possible he'd have a negative effect on ST? If he has to clean them out so much in the game it'd be interesting to see him as a loner like Nute.

That is possible. That may be another way that he may be cheaper.

If the secret apprentice had a negative effect on stormies, you could just buiild the squad without troopers. You could still play him in B&B, just use Gran and Tusken Raiders as you swap figs instead of stormies.

And if that is the case with the negative CE, that frees up more points, although takes away from the high defense of stormies with Thrawn. Perhaps you will not be able to use stormies and the apprentice together easily.

Or mabe he will have a deadly commander effect like Vader, COTS. Somthing that boosts troopers, but at the same time has a chance to kill them.

I had been thinking about something like the old Vader one where if non uniques roll a 1 on an attack they choke.

I actually think something with a negative effect on Troopers could end up being fairly balanced. IMO, the main frustration of beating a B&B army is that the Stormies are so freakin' hard to kill most of the time. If you are forced to use Grans, Tuskens, Bespins, etc. then those are easier to kill. So, even if you can bring more of them, it might end up being about the same.

I'm kind of expecting the Secret Apprentice to have a version of Unleash the force (like Jacen). Imagine THAT in Black & Blue. Charge in a Stormy, swap, Unleash 60 to all within 6. Win Init, and with Emperor as a Force battery do it again! 120 damage to several pieces in your opponents squad!

No way. That would be way too powerful. I think he could have a force push that pushes everyone within 6 or something.

If he's such a black ops character, what if they gave him some special ability that states he cannot be in the same squad as any unique Imperial character except Darth Vader? That, or some similar limitation, would free the designers to make him crazy powerful without having to worry about game-breaking synergy with Thrawn, Palpatine, etc.

I think that would work and be good for the game.

I do think WOTC could have added more character flavour into stats rather than the odd Rapport. eg. Mistryl cannot be on an Imperial Squad, Jango cannot be in a Squad with Obi-Wan, Cannot mix Wookiees with Trandoshans.

If he does negatively affect troopers, you could just play Bespin Guards instead, they have the same defense in cover unless you play vader, IC

And the rise has begun with Vader's Apprentice, Unleashed! Simply amazing . . .
