I'm sure most of you read the article on the holocron about the new figures we can be looking for in the up and coming sets. The one im most interestd in is the new Luke that was mentioned, the one that is said to be more powerful than any previous verson. Could it be for the rebels? Could They really out do Luke Cotf? Or do you think it will be on NR to make up for Luke JM?...Let me kno your thoughts and opinions

My bet is he'll be for NR...it'd be hard to believe he'd be a Rebel...and affinity would definitely be cool.

I hope it is for the NR, but I'm also really hoping they don't give up on trying to make the Jedi Master version a bit better. I wouldn't mind a cheaper NR Luke option so I could him in with Mara in a 100 point squad, even if the game seems to be moving more towards higher point formats.

My guess is the high powered one will be NR or Rebel with affinty to somebody in NR, probably Mara.

My guess on Luke/Yoda is very defensive force beast.

Here's my guesses:
Luke Skywalker with Yoda Backpack 63 pts. Rebel
150 HP
19 Defense
+9 Attack
10 Damage

Special abilities
Unique (counts as Luke and Yoda)
Lightsaber +10; Loner +4; Momentum;
Mettle; Opportunist; Flurry Attack

Force Powers
Force 2; Force Renewal 2
Force Leap; Lightsaber Assault; Lightsaber Deflect;
Master of the Force 2; Use the Force

Commander Effect: When an allied Unique character whose name contains Han or Leia is defeated, this character takes 10 damage and may activate one additional time per round. (This bonus stacks.)

Luke Skywalker, Jedi Grandmaster 71 pts.
200 HP
24 Defense
+18 Attack
20 Damage

Special abilities
Unique; Melee Attack; Triple Attack; Evade; Parry
Light Tutor (A New Republic ally gains 1 Force point and a Force rating at the start of the skirmish)

Force Powers
Force 3; Force Renewal 1; Anticipation; Force Push;
Lightsaber Assault; Master Speed; Master of the Force 3;
Use the Force

Commander Effect: Non-unique allies with Lightsabers and a Force rating gain Lightsaber Deflect. Characters in your squad can spend this character's Force points. They still can't spend Force points more than once per turn, and can't combine this character's Force points with their own.

Your Grandmaster Luke is pretty close to what I was looking for from the new over powered Luke.

Parry, Evade, 24 Defense, MotF3 with 200 HP. That would kill this game.

You just have to get adjacent with a non-melee character. Alternatively, give this Luke LS Block and Deflect.

Kill the game? Nah. It's not like this is 1 piece being added to the existing game. This is a piece concept in a set that is going to "push the Force up to 11," as the SWM Editor put it at the GenCon seminar.

I didn't notice the MOTF3.

Even without MotF 3 it would ruin this game. 24 Defense is hard enough to hit and when you do it has a 75% chance of being nulled. When you do make it through both of those you can hit his whopping 200 HP.

From what I've gathered, it sounds like a new NR Luke, more powerful than the one we currently have. And it sounds like it was hinted at 08 (Legacy perhaps?).

Also, while Rob may be trying to up the force in the next set, I still trust him to stay somewhat balanced ie Vader JH/Lord, or Bane like levels.

I think 11 on a 10 point scale is a bit high in this case. I don't think they'd go this far overboard on the Force O' Meter

I dont see how the new power Luke could be anything other then NR. Luke, JM should in theory be more powerfull than any of the Rebel Lukes right?

In most of the EU books Luke doesn't really seem that powerful. As a Rebel he was a little more reckless and had less control. It might be appropiate for a rebel Luke to seem a little more powerful than the Luke, Jedi Master.

Now in the new Legacy book series we are starting to see just how powerful Luke really is. I think we'll see a very powerful Luke in the Legacy release next year.

P.S. The Luke that I want to see more than anything is the darkside Luke from Dark Empire. Luke and a Emporer clone in the same squad. That would be awesome.
