Well, we were planning on finally doing a large scale Hoth battle on Sunday, but we may not be able to get to the LGS due to the flooding. Dajuan took some video, which can be seen here. (window was down for some of them, so wind is all you can hear. You may want to mute it.)
We might still be doing it on Sunday, but we're not sure because they have just called for voluntary evacuations in the areas on the way to the LGS. We'll be fine and relatively unaffected by the floods, but we just won't be able to get there.

Here are some still shots I took of the Des Moines. We were able to get out of the truck here and get a closer look at things. Some of the bridges in the distance are underwater in the shots. Actually, one of those bridges that I think you can see is one of the two ways we go to our LGS, and it's almost underwater. The second way has been underwater almost all week. Minis just isn't worth chancing it if the water gets much higher.

Well, we were able to get to the LGS, and we finally played a Hoth battle. The water has been receding, so it's getting better for now.

Here are pics:

Only had 8 players, so there were 4 squads not used...:(

Ready to start. BTW, EVERY piece seen, plus the ones that weren't used, were supplied by myself and Lady H

looks like you all had a lot of fun even though you are experiencing such an extreme natural disaster. I'm glad you all got to play :)

Doug and Dajuan,

Glad to see you two were in at least one of the pictures. The game looked like a lot of fun. Who won - Imperials or Rebels? Glad to hear your home hasn't been affected by the storms.

My family and I were planning on going to Western Iowa for a friend's wedding through Des Moines, but we're taking the northern route instead.

Rebels won, due to the lack of experience and strategic thinking of the Empire.

It looks like 80 opened up today all the way through Iowa, so it may be a possibility for you to come through Des Moines. Bu if you take highway 20, at least it's not two-way anymore. They've opened it up to a four lane highway. Have a safe travel either way!

Doug
