OK so there has been a newer player at my LGS that has been playing what I call a cheese squad.

BFBH
HS Scoundrel
PLO
R2

It is less than 150 but he has been playing it at 150 and just try's to kill your guys and then lock himself in a room untill he can get the god shot on your guys.

Its annoying to play against since his two main beats twin every time and hit about every time!!!

Any pointers or squad ideas to help counter the cheese???

Override his override, open his door, pound with the AAs. You should be able to kill his Han in 3 hits from 12 squares away. Boba should only take 4, and Leia 2. Protect your pieces early, and move up for the kill when he tries to run.

Anakin, Sith Apprentice
Ugnaught Demolitionist x2
Gran Raider x4

Keep all of your non-stealth pieces completely out of LOS.
Use SS to maneuver your Gran close to his figs while keeping them in cover. Then, at the end of a round, base Boba and swap Anakin into position. With his Loner ability, you only need 3's to hit for 60 damage. Then roll init, most likely win, and Rage again for the kill. Either way, swap out for a Gran, and wait 2 more rounds to do it again. As long as you don't lose more than 3 Gran on the way up, it's a piece of cake. :)

Yeah, if you know someone is consistently playing Fett BH, Captain Antilles is never a bad choice. But like Bill pointed out, someone who wants to play a squad with only 4 activations (I'm assuming PLO is Princess Leia from A&E, right?) they are asking to get slaughtered by higher activation armies.

You should have very little trouble pulling off something like what Bill posted, or heck, pretty much any squad that has something like 9-10 activations, even without Dodonna.

An accurate shooter to take down Leia and R2 would be your first priority, and that can be either a Han or Boba of your own, or something like Deliah Blue or Luke LOTLS. Imperial Super Stealth would also work pretty well in this case. Make it so he can't get to anything that isn't Stealth and in cover, and you force him to come to you. Vong JH would be my 3rd suggestion. It would take an average of 5 to 6 attacks for Boba and Han to take down one single JH, whereas it only takes 4 attacks from a YVJH to kill Han. Fett will be a little tougher to kill since he doesn't have a Force Point, but once you kill Han and Leia, it should be much easier at that point.

Apparently not if the guy is consistently winning...

I played the squad three times. First he caught me off guard and slaughtered me. Second is when I built the squad to beat him. The thrid time was last night when he said he wanted to play me I saw it and I didnt want to deal with it so I built a squad with DV JH and BF mercenary just to be stupid. hehe funny part was I almost won....

Boris I know you had that other thread where you mentioned low activation squads are winning games at your LGS and it annoyed you. Its a simmlar thing here. The person just hides in a room and shoots you when he can get a kill. Now this is Monday night gaming and not Gencon so we are not counting gambit and whatnot, but geez is it annoying.

I like Billy's idea the best just because it is so opposite what the one kid plays. I have 15 AA's so I should be able to put that together and show him you don't need $60 VR's to win a game. :P

MTB squad with uggies & Kel Dor. Blow the door, move in late, you win Init, BOOM!!! Plan it right you might even take out Fett & Han in one go.

Moff Nyna Calixte
Kel Dor Bounty Hunter x8
Muun Tactics Broker
Caamasi Noble
Ugnaught Demolitionist x5
Total Cost: 150

It's mean squad, but you win Init and totally out-activate. But you have to move in quickly.

Or how about a Sep squad with Viper droids bouncing back half his shots :D

X-1 Viper Droid x2
Wat Tambor
Battle Droid Officer
Battle Droid x2
Ugnaught Demolitionist x2

Try Republic Super Stealth;

CC Bacara
Republic Comando Training Sarge
Sev x3
Scorch x2
+ 18 points of filler

It will negate anything Boba or Han will be able to shoot at, while you should be able to pick them off (Evade only works 50% so your Sev's will deal a lot hopefully). Use Scorches to combine fire with Sev's and then use grenades when they get close.

Good Luck!

EDIT: You are playing gambit, right? When he locks himself in the room, just get gambit points.

I cant believe there are this many posts on this and not a single person has used the word 'gambit' yet....

Anyway, just hide behind a wall in gambit and make him come out to shoot your gambit guy

He already said in an earlier post that they were not playing with gambit, and it didn't sound like it was an overly serious game.

Overall, if it's not a tournament atmosphere, and one person insists on playing the same thing EVERY single time, then you just start refusing to play with them. We had one guy at our venue that played Boba Fett BH pretty much every single week for a while, and yet several of us would cream him week after week, until we finally convinced him that by playing the same thing every week, he wasn't learning about the game at all, and the rest of us who were experimenting and changing things were having more fun, and learning the game better. Hence, why we were beating him more often, even if he was using the 'almighty Fett'.

yeah its just monday night games. I have already brought up if we where playing gambit I would just sit in gambit and win every time.

sometimes though people just need to see that cheese squads still lose. and I don't want to alienate him by not playing with him.

hehe I am going to do the AA swarm and watch the look on his face.

Forgive this unworthy one -- I do not question, I ask only for enlightenment, Master -- but you do mean by "kill his Han in 3 hits from 12 squares" (or Boba or Leia) with only Dodonna and HSiSA, and AA's (which are of course melee), to run at him from up to 12 squares away, with HSiSA & the IC's combined CE's, clobbering them into the dust, yesssss?
Thank you, Master

And all the more so, with having to 'sacrifice' a character EVERY turn that the game lasts, with the MTB, n-c'est pas?

Lucky you didn't run into any disruptive. AA's are pretty solid all around for 7 points. Ewoks are get shut down by disruptive pretty bad.
