Just like Gen Con

I'd say odds are high I would come, assuming I had sufficient advance notice.

Depends on several things. First and foremost being whether my wife has something else going on that day. Secondly would be location. If it was somewhere within a few hour drive and my wife and kid were out of town that particular day, then I would definitely try to make it...

I would love to if I could. I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to play with the game's best players if I had a chance. Would just depend on what I have going on during the time and how far.

Depends for me. I'll play any time I can. Its more the where that's an issue for me. If a tourny is close enough to where I live I'll play. If not I don't. The place I play at some Friday nights now is a 45 minute drive from where I live.

For me, it really depends on the location and when the tourney is, and with school it'll be hard to find the time. Might be good to have this tourney during the beginning of next summer.

I'm in Jersey, so unless it is within a close distance, nope. A cool idea, however.

Would simply depend on when & where. When being time enough to clear the work schedule.

As for where, I'd like to toss my 2 cents in for a little convention in Springfield, MO called Visioncon, since I've attended every February for the last 14 years. It's usually the 3rd weekend of Feb, averages 800 to 1000 people in attendance for the weekend, held in the Clarion Hotel ($75 per night) with plenty of gaming space and doesn't shut down overnight... non-stop gaming all weekend! $20-30 for weekend badge - game master gets in free, free room parties (read: free booze!) for those that are of legal age - yes they do ID & monitor. Also, it does not compete with any other major gaming event or con during that time of the year.

Since most of the players that run this site are from that general region, I thought this might help.

I'd like an all-SWM tournament. However, it would depend on:

- Location

- Dates

- Costs involved (everything from hotels to airfare to event costs)

- If other SWM events were scheduled, too. I'd like a good variety of events (like GenCon), rather than just a single, huge event. I'd like to see some lower-stress events like League, Utini, Battle of Hoth, etc.

Maybe it could be tied-in with an existing convention of some sort. And/or in a location that people would want to come to for reasons other than a gaming convention, like Las Vegas or Orlando (or other places I haven't thought of just yet).

Visioncon is a nice little family convention that takes place in the one building and has several different events like Magic, I usually run Supremacy (Risk on steroids) everyyear, various miniatures, RPGs. They also do a Masquerade on Saturday, Art show & charity art auction (nice stuff), decent Dealer's room, and an award for best room party. They even have daycare until 6pm. They haven't done anything with their website for the '08 con yet, but it should be up soon. However, they do have a forum that you can reach from the website.

http://www.visioncon.net

Since the people that run it are good friends of mine, I used to help run it & was a roommate with them a long time ago, I can pass along any questions directly.

BTW: Anyone running an event at least 6 hours in duration gets into the Con for free. So, whether it's several different SWM events, or a mix of whatever, a few different people could get in free and at the same time make sure there will be games to play. Just drop a line on the Visioncon forums, under the thread Gaming/Tabletop. The earlier the better choice of time slots available.

Would depend on when and where really. My work schedule is often somewhat hard to pin down very far in advance, but if it was a weekend, I could probably make it all work out.
