I've always thought Admiral Ackbar had a pretty good CE (Followers within 6 squares get +4 Attack against an opponent who has already activated), and now with Dodonna it seems easier than ever to get it to work. In a world of MTB engines, Recon is less useful. But is Ackbar worth playing for his CE?

Even in the pre-LOTF meta, I've seen quite a few people run Ackbar in 200 point Rebel squads to help pieces like Han Scoundrel still get a nice attack bonus, even if he doesn't get to attack first. The best thing for a Dodonna/Ackbar combo though, will be to boost other Opportunist pieces. Or possibly, using Garm to bring in the CorSec Officer to give Deceptive, and then Ackbar to give the +4 for a pseudo-Opportunist. I think it is definitely worth a look at, but until the Rebels get more pieces with Opportunist rather than Cunning, I don't know how competitive it will be.

The more Opportunist/vs Activated characters the better with my playing style. When I put squads together I often try to optimise dmage via Cunning & Opportunist. I always presume I am going to lose Initiative, and mixing up Cunning & Opportunist can screw with opponents tactics.

So, Ackbar & Dodonna? Why not, seems like a sound plan to get the best possible attack bonus.

Hey, great minds think alike! I just posted my new Ewok swarm squad in a new thread on the 200 point squad construction page. :)

I think it is great. I have a feeling that luke, Legacy will be a great choice for this build. Careful shot, greater mobile, and akbar is wonderful for him.
