I've been going through my collection and playing pieces I've never played before. I finally got around to K-3PO last night, and I love him. Rebel swapping is excellent, even if it's only limited to 6 squares.

I just thought I'd try to get the word out. If you have K-3PO but haven't played him yet, definitely give him a try. You don't even necessarily have to build around him--just throw him into any squad and enjoy a whole new world of strategic possibilities in a Rebel squad.

Some of the swaps in my game last night:

-Swapped Ackbar so he could get into position for Recon.
-Swapped Biggs so he could get a shot without cover and still benefit from Double Attack, Deadeye, and Careful Shot +4.
-Swapped Chewbacca of Hoth so he could get a Deadeye shot without cover.
-Swapped Han RH multiple times to get his CE range where I needed it for my other attackers.
-Swapped Wedge into base with Exar multiple times after he based my more useful figs.

I also had an ASP-7 in my squad for some Speed 8 lifting, but it died a horrible Rancor-inflicted death early on because I couldn't swap it out of harm's way (being a droid).

I also try to use pieces I've never used before. I use MM's random booster option to "open" a booster from each set then build a squad using something I've never played before.

K-3PO is one I haven't had a chance to try yet, though I have seen him used very well against me.

Yup, I've been in a mode of trying to play all of the different pieces from TFU at least once before LOTF comes out. So far, I think I've only officially played about 30 of all the pieces, although I think there are only 12 of the Uniques that I haven't played with yet.

I'll have to give this piece a chance. It got lost in the shuffle for me.......

It's actually my mission to try and play with every figure that I haven't tried yet. In the last game I played, I tried Calo Nord for the first time. I can't believe it took me two more sets to try him. Of course, I still haven't gotten to use my Young Krayt Dragon yet (as much as I've wanted to, cause it looks friggin' sweet!) so sometimes it's just not being able to play enough games. Getting together for a game once a week with my friends is a good week for me.

K-3P0 is on my to try list still, but the last time I ran Rebels I decided to give Han of Hoth and Luke, Hoth Pilot Unleashed a go first. Good to hear that he sounds like a fun piece to play. I haven't thought of a proper theme to use him in yet so that's probably why he's a bit lower on my priority list...

I have to second shinja's post. I played K-3PO a week or two ago and he was the difference maker in the match.

I am going to try to incorporate it more often.

I shouldn't have been so lazy when first looking at his stats; I had just thought a toned down Thrawn swap and only within 6.....who cares. With a careful build that could be huge even if it isn't board wide.

It's also nice to have Luke, HPU Push 4, then swap in VSA Redeemed for another push. :D

I have an extra one, if you're interested. HOWEVER, be advised that I have moved recently and don't currently have my minis with me so you'd have to wait a bit, but if you had an extra Obi-wan Unleashed or Kazdan Paratus it might be worth the trade.

Right, so I gave K-3P0 a go against one of my good friends. I ran:

K-3P0
Han Solo on a Tauntaun
Luke Skywalker on a Tauntaun
Chewbacca of Hoth
Hoth Trooper with Atgar Cannon

My friend had:
Blizzard I
Rampaging Wampa
Wampa
Probe Droid
Ugnaught

We played on the Echo Base map from the Battle for Hoth pack. My friend got to the gambit area first with the wampas. I made my way forward leading with the Tauntauns.

I don't really use Thrawn that often, so a couple of times I was trying to switch different bases before I remembered that I couldn't do that. But switching the Atgar was pretty cool. I eventually got Luke up to the door and then swapped the Atgar in for an attack on the Wampa. I rolled a 14... :( Too bad, it would have been nice to see some splash damage.

My friend made a couple of placement mistakes and I was able to get a cunning attack off on the Probe Droid with Han, but he was able to win initiative anyway. A twin attack from Blizzard I took care of my cannon but instead of burning an activation with the ugnaught and letting the door shut my friend kept the door open with the Rampagaing Wampa. I couldn't make him pay with either Han or Luke but Chewie got a nice shot in with Deadeye.

Anyways, long story short, he won on points when time ran out. We decided to play the game out anyway. Some bad rolls prevented the AT-ST from totally wiping out my team, and I was able to squeak out a victory.

K-3P0's actually pretty fun to use. And I got to try my Atgar for the first time ever and actually got an attack of, even if it didn't hit. I was afraid it would be defeated before I had the chance to even do that. Oh well, good times... :)
