Well i was at t.g.i. fridays eating dinner. with my minis in the trunk. my son forgot his ds in the car so i gave him the keys to go get it. and he forgot to lock it and the minis were stolen and nothing else i called the police and nothing was found. luckly i have theft insurance and when the guy i am woking with saw how much these little pieces of plastic cost his jaw dropped. but they said it would be 5-6 weeks before i ca nget them replaced. so 5-6 weeks without my minis will be tough. but luckly i have vassal.

Wow, man. I am so sorry to hear that! At least you did have insurance. Scary that someone would actually do that. I would be sure to check any game stores around you and let them all know what happened, as well as a search on eBay for anyone in your area selling off a minis collection.

That's horrible; good thing you have theft insurance though! That's really quite odd that someone would look in a trunk and decide they were going to steal SWM pieces though; I could see someone swiping a DS or MP3 player, but no minis. Maybe someone at your LGS who knows you?

Hell that really sucks big time. Will your insurance still pay out as the car was not locked?

It really is amazing how much these SWM cost, had to upgrade my insurance to cover mine as i only had a very basic one which didn't cover much.

Hope when you get your payout you can still find the right minis for replacements as some are getting hard to find.

Man, that SUCKS. I know how you feel, only a few of mine were stolen. But I never got them back, and the School officials didn't care. I'm hoping you get them back soon.

Yes insurance companies are very picky. Here in the UK most would not pay out if they were stolen from an open ( unlocked ) car. ( not all as some would) The fact they they were purchased and you had recites would not be the issue, it's the unlocked car that would be the problem.
Most insurance companies the first thing they do is to see if they can get out of paying, but that over here i know very little about things were you are.

That is the only reason i asked. anyway best of luck with it.

Dreadtech, in my experience it's kind of the same over here as well. Insurance companies do all they can to keep from paying out. Or, if you do make a claim often times they'll just drop you, or make you pay through the nose because now you're a higher risk. Home owners insurance is notorious for this. I'm suprised as it seems the Capin has had a fairly easy time of it.

Glad you'll be getting your minis back Capin_ahab, hope your son doesn't feel too bad. Mistakes happen!

Yeah, I'm very glad it worked out well for you Ahab.

Yeah Insurance Co's can be a total pain to get to pay up. But even on this side of the pond you'll find a few that arn't run by pure bean counters.

I feel for you, man. I would be gutted if my minis were stolen.

I know I'm very paranoid when transporting my minis. I lock the back door of my car while driving to stop opportunist thieves at traffic lights. I had to stop for petrol the other day and walked backwards towards the pay counter so as to not take my eyes off the car for a second! :?

Just remember, you might be Paranoid, but doesn't mean they're not out to get you :D.

well, I don't worry too much personally, mostly cuz between crooks about here would look at em with as much dislike as someone carrying a bag of menuere. Not viewed as valuable up here. But then people also don't mug other's for thier shoes here in canada.

that and when in transit the case stays locked and chained to me so. (i use the local transit to get to my LGS as it's in town.)

Man, that sucks! At least you'll get them back through insurance, but what a pain. I would be so down if I lost my entire collection. All those years of collecting.

I get paranoid about forgetting to lock my car. It's actually only happened once where I really did forget to lock it. Luckily, I didn't lose anything.
