More specificallly using Lobot to bring in the MTB. Normally I bring in an MTB and a Gonk, but in some matchups would it be worth it to bring in more fodder if you are fairly positive that you can defeat them before you start sacrificing your big hitters?

For example if I were facing a JWM swarm with Boba, BH with a Mara Jade, Jedi squad would the three more rounds of initiative control be worth it?

Thoughts?

Absolutely not. If you don't have a way to kill off your MTB, your opponent can make you spend several rounds of just running around the map aimlessly, just trying to catch him. I think the only time I would consider bringing an MTB without a way to off it is in a Tile Wars game, where you have no where to run.

Now, just because you don't have a Gonk though, doesn't mean you're screwed. There are plenty of other ways to kill off an MTB: Flamethrower, Force Repulse, Force Storm, Force Push 3 or 5. There's also Splash, Grenades, and Missles that can work as well, but are more risky if you happen to roll good for once.

Lobo is correct.

Even if your opponent doesn't stay away from you immedetely, after the carnage has ensued, even if you are ahead you will probably have half a team left and thats when the MTB gets dangerous. Your team depletes fast even if you are winning every init.

Smart players will send a force of fodder to take on the uggies your sacking. You don't need much of a force to kill 0 att 10 hp fodder.

The only way to play an MTB is with lobot and a method to kill the MTB.

Ug Bombs are also good for getting rid of the MTB. If you can fit the Ug boss into your regular build, you could have Lobot bring in the MTB and ugs as your reinforcements.
