I cant decide which Vader to buy, Imperial Commander, or Champion of the Sith. IC gives +6 defense to troopers while CotS alows each follower (rangeless with mas) to make an attack at +4 attack, +10 damage when it misses. IC=defensive, CotS=offensive, which should i get?

A bit hard to decide, they are both good. It depends on what kind of squad you want to build. If you are using a Stormie Swarm with Thrawn in the squad, then Vader IC would be a better choice considering Thrawn's ce doesn't stack with Vader COTS's ce. But if Thrawn isn't in your squad then Vader COTS could be a good choice. Vader COTS also works well with Thrawn and Boba Merc, but comes with some risks. Its very difficult to decide between the two . I think Vader IC would be the better choice.

I think you got them backwards Xanthan, COTS would stack with Thrawn, but the troopers would get +6 defense over Thrawn's +3, though they would still get his +3 to attack.

I don't own a COTS so I know which one I'd pick. They're both quality pieces and you can't go wrong either way

They are both Good choices. Only advise I can give is that you gamble with Vader Cots, and Vader IC is a sure thing, but they both have their uses. And personally i Like the force Package that come with IC more so than Vader Cots.

COTS's CE can be used even if it is a hit. You can re-roll any attack roll, even if it is a hit.

COTS and RS Palpy make a great re-roll combo.

Vader COTS is a gamble, so I would have to go for Imperial Commander.

Vader IC + Felucian Stormtrooper Officer = Stormtroopers with a Defense 30 in cover!

I really don't like COTS, IC is alot better-IMO.

I ansered for which I thought was better. Personally I don't like either. IC and Felucian is just rediculous, the Felucian should have been REPUBLIC! Like Imperials needed anymore defence bonuses for Storms. While republic clones are just so horrible. Anyway.

just to address this, Vaders is a direct bonus whereas the Felucian grants the SA Advantagous Cover, so yes they stack. Use elite Snowtroopers and that defense becomes 31.

The problem with IC is the reroll, hit or DIE. Not the best ability for someone with my die rolling record

Yes, for the cheap cost of 78 points, your stormies can have super defense in cover. Of course, they still don't have enough offense against big guns, but you can always spend more points on that. With all the Push, Repulse, Missiles, Grenades, and Splash we have been getting, not overly worried about Stormies super defense.

COTS has really grown on me. I tested a 200 pt Ozzel squad with him. Man, when Aurra is attacking at +23 for 40 Dam at a Jedi, his worth really shows through. Lando at +16 for 40 is also very nice.

I think it depends on your play style. If you like to play more aggressively with less gamble, then IC Vader is the way to go.

If you prefer a more defensive style play with higher damage output options, then CotS is the choice for you.

Of course, neither of these are the "best" Vader for their cost-range IMO, but of the two I prefer CotS.

He's very good with Force-users that can already deal higher damage, like Aurra Sing. I have also paired him with Emperor Palpatine and good shooters that can afford to risk a re-roll, like Lando Dashing Scoundrel, Aurra, or Boba Young Mercenary. I am looking forward to trying him out with Boba, ADULT Mercenary.

thx everyone, im going with CotS, though it was a tough choice. However, i have the FSO, so my stormies are fine (though 30 defense is tempting)

I think that's the right choice, with FSO you'll have stormies with amazing defense, but you really don't need 30 defense. 24 def in cover for a 5 point fodder fig will slow down your opponent enough to do what you want. If you only have to spend 16 points to get that advantage and can use a more agressive Vader, that's gravy.

No, the reroll with Vader COTS's ce's extra attack it grants doesn't stack with thrawn. But Thrawn's def part of his ce would stack with Vader COTS's.

CotS is more fun to play. The re-rolling for extra damage or death ups the tension and doesn't feel as cheesy as impossible to attack stormies. That's why everyone include an area damage attacker or two anyway....you can't fully exploit the base D against a good opp

I'm a bit biased, but CotS.

It's a happy day when your Evo is attacking at +15 for 50 damage.

Plus, CotS has both Block and Deflect, making it harder for him to kill, even though IC has better base defense.

I dont have Thrawn, so that doesnt really matter to me, it would be cool if it did though
