| Post subject: | New Movie Characters, where do they go? |
This train of thought came from another thread and I didn't want to confuse folks or have two conversations going on in the same thread. obi1 brings up a question that I have been kicking around in my head about where characters in the new movie fall faction wise? Looking at the new x-wing core being but out The Resistance and The First Order still fall into Rebel and Imperial. Granted I think it is a head scratcher about why, but obviously they know something we don't the movie or were two lazy to start up new factions. All of that to ask. Do characters in the new movie go directly into NR or are they Rebel? Is the first order a new faction or a subfaction within IMP? |

First Order is pretty cut and dry as characters from that Era went into Imperial before. The Resistance...... Well, just judging from the name I would go with Rebels as that does not signify a legitimate government. However, The Force Awakens is set 30 years ABE, so wtf???? |

Yeah I think that is where old canon, now legend on wookiepedia, and current canon are going to have problems jiving together. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/First_Order This to me sounds like the New Republic hadn't really formed as of yet. I guess we will have to wait and see. However if you poke around a bit more and follow some of the links you will find this. Quote: The Battle of Jakku occurred one year after the Battle of Endor. According to Aftermath, the New Republic is still formed after the Battle of Endor. That plus other pieces not explicitly falling under the purview of the "New Republic government" (Cade Skywalker, Shado Vao et al) I think the New Republic is the best place for them. We also don't know what the "Resistance" is yet. It might just be local freedom fighters against the First Order. Or maybe the New Republic has demilitarized and these are mercenary soldiers on the outer rim who work with the NR. And ultimately, a big basis of Star Wars Minis factions are based onspecific "Eras," it's in the rule book. I think that's important to note and even if the Resistance in the movie "feels Rebely" it makes more sense to me to put them in the NR since the NR in the old canon still fought the Empire and "Resisted" their influence during this period. Just my thoughts |
