I've got a possible project in mind. But, in order to figure out logistics, I would like to see how many people are interested in an Epic 3 set. To be clear, this will an online only project, as it is financially unfeasible to print another Epic set. However, that doesn't mean support for the formats that involve Epics should be discontinued. The idea is still an idea in my head at the moment, but to go forward, I need to know how many people would be interested, and most likely want to help, with such a project.

If I could help from my phone, which I do all this from my phone, then yes, I would be interested.

Before this game dies I would like to say I designed a piece.

How many were you thinking? 6?
I have a few ideas for some epics.

More Epics? That would be epic.

I'm sure a couple of us can help with ideas, design, playtesting, whatever.

Yes - PDF releases for alternate formats should be explored.

I'm willing to help!

I am willing to help as much as needed. As it gets closer to Christmas things for me actually tend to slow a bit. WIth a few exceptions. And around Christmas i generally find myself with more free time so eat a little of under utilized time wont hurt.

Also a decent list of those that are deserving that don't have an epic (or bounty hunter challenge piece yet):

Grievous (that's it, no General, no fancy title, just lightsaber lawn mower)

Abeloth (a 200 point amazing multi-activating at the beginning and end of a round piece)

Jango Fett Mandalore

Jedi Exile (similar to Revenchist but for KOTOR 2 people)

Obi-Wan Kenobi, Hero of the Republic

Han Solo, Smuggler, Scoundrel, Hero

Darth Nyax (or Necrosis if that isn't to much of a stretch haha)

Kyle Katarn, Hero of Ruusan

One of the many Yuuzhan Vong war beasts or a world brain though it would be all tech and have to have reserves x4

We need JABBA THE HUTT epic with many SA and CE for the Fringe.

Truthfully, I haven't thought about it too much. I will see about trying to get something together.

Here is my thought on Epics.

How many characters are really deserving of an Epic piece? This was discussed going into the second Epic set and thus why it is only six characters. I should not have to look an Epic character up on Wookiepedia to know who it is.

So of the list posted,
Jango, Han, Obi, maybe Kyle.

Personally I think you have to have screen time to be an Epic, but that is just me.

Since it is being talked about for Gencon 14 I really think we are already too late to get a set list, stats, playtesting and sent to the printer. We are already struggling to playtest the main and subset anyway. That is why we are cutting the number of characters. Adding Epics sort of is going in the wrong direction IMO.

I know there are fanboys for every character if you asked them the character they hold near and dear to their heart would have and Epic version. Being brutally honest I think this project would be a waste of time.

I think I agree with Les as far as getting it together for Gencon 2014.

I've said it elsewhere... good project for a PDF only release with no hard timetable for completion.

If the community is willing to fund a printing run after it is finished, great.

I can think of more beneficial projects that should get completed before GC, if not before regionals.

Well Ganner, Daddy Lah and the Terentak got epics with no screen time and minor EU time. As far as those that deserve it go. Grievous is easily worthy of an epic especially building one from the Clone wars cartoon theme. Plus a bigger thing is making the epics a unique flavour so they aren't just copies of each other. Grievous would fit very well as a droid/cyborg type character with evade, parry, and lightsaber style copying abilities and damage reduction.

As well Kyle absolutely is a classic and would do well in the epic set as a more weapons/shields based Jedi.

Ability is a well known name in the EU and more deserving of an epic than anyone else.

Personally I say make the cards and then ask for financial support and the numbers may surprise you.

I am definately interested and will always be a big fan of Epics! First of all, I think that there truely is a place for Epics in our game. It's a different format, which always sparks interest. Secondly, remember that Epics aren't allowed in standard games, and are extremely fun either with 2 figures at 200pts, or the 16 acitivation 500pt format. My play group even plays them in 300 and 400pt fun scenarios. We are even talking about allowing them in standard 200 and 300 games. They are super cool, and tough in battle, but certainly are beatable, and (IMO), far from "Godly". Remember that the winner of the last 500pt GenCon tournament were the "Separatists", not Bastila. So with Old Republic, New Republic, and Separatist being great in the 500pt format, it's not stale at all! But on my point of the Epics not being allowed in standard games, I think that there is a market for many more characters to be made epic, just simply to give more choices when building squads. Being that they aren't allowed in the standard 200 pt competitive game, why not make more Epic characters? Why do they have to be in some "Elite Status", where we only make a few of them to compete and play with? The staleness comes from not many of them being made, so that you only have a limited few to build squads with/from. Building different squads with as many different characters, at least for me and the guys I play with regularly, is half the fun and is the drive that keeps us playing for fun and competing!

Darth, great post!

I agree they are actually my group's favourite part of the game and we have a house rule to allow them normally into 200 point games. "Iron Man" Boba/Jacen and Vergere team is a common sight.

I think with the influx of another set (which could be fund-raised separately) this genre will continue to breath life into a fun game style.

Awesome stuff General!

Any updates in getting more Epic sets made?
