Come join us for some Star Wars Minis fun! We have a number of events over the three days -- mostly some skirmish, but also some X-Wing. See www.gameholecon.com for more info and to register for the con and specific games. X-Wing, Swiss tournament, 100 pts, for up to 32 players Star Wars Minis, Swiss tournament (prelim rounds), 200 pts, for up to 16 players (due to space restrictions) Star Wars Minis, Swiss tournament (finals), 200 pts, 4 players Star Wars Minis, Tile Wars format, 200 pts, for up to 32 players Star Wars Minis, Royal Rumble format, 3x100 pts, for up to 32 players Star Wars Minis, Assassin! format, 100 pts duos, for up to 32 players --- Per the GameHoleCon organizer: Yes, players do need to register for events. The easiest way to do it is to pre-register. You can buy a badge and then select and pay for games through the Con site. This way you know that you are in a given game once you have a ticket for it. The other alternative is buying badges and game tickets the day of. There certainly will be a lot of people who do this. This means filing out the registration stuff on-site, paying for the badge, then going to the games desk to see what games are still available. If there are still tickets available for a given game, players can buy that ticket. (Game tickets are cheap by the way $1 or $2 usually.) If players walk up to our tables without a game ticket, we will have to send them back to get one. Due to the swarm of people, certainly on Saturday, pre-registration is the way to go. That way, you just stop off, give your name, and you are handed a bag with your badge, your game tickets, and a schedule of your events. Also, weekend badges are $35 in pre-registration and $40 on site. --- Just a reminder that pre-registration is open until Oct 15. After that, you spend some of your time in line when you arrive ... and that is precious gaming time. We've had quite a few people express interest, now we just need you to sign up. |

Here are some pictures of the tournament at Gamehole Con. Major thanks to Mark, Shawn and Tim for hosting this and getting everything together to make this happen. Here is just a picture of the room where our star wars event at the convention was held. There were lots of games going on around us, but that didn't distract us from playing the game we all love. We are all getting ready to start. Starting from left to right we have Shawn (GalacticFunk), Tim (Chargers), Jason (Urbanjedi), Eric (Engineer), and my brother Taylor (spacemanspiff). Mark (PhilNLil) and Eric (Engineer) prepare to face off against each other. Next is a picture of my match against Jason (Urbanjedi) and his Talon Karrde squad. The battle was fierce and it was a close game. Jason got the 3 point win and handed me my only loss for the day. Great game and well played by Jason! Next up is a picture of the match between Taylor (spacemanspiff) and Tim (Chargers). Mace rolled 4 crits in one turn! It was an amazingly powerful squad that Tim put together! Here is a group photo of all of us after the 200pt swiss tournament. Starting from the top left to right is Taylor (spacemanspiff), Trevor (obikenobi1), Eric (Engineer), Jason (Urbanjedi) and Mark (PhilNLil). Starting from the bottom left to right is Shawn (GalacticFunk) and Tim (Chargers) |

There is always next year Lou. I think we will have a lot more people show up for our next tourney. The people at gamehole con did a good job getting everything organized so it was a good experience playing there. |

The Republic brought: Mace, LotLS Commander Ahsoka Padme Amidala, Senator Mas Amedda Captain Panaka Captain Rex R2 Astromech Klatooinian Assassin Ugnaught The thought was to tow or swap Mace in, let him hit/crit/Flurry and Rolling Cleave. Padme gives Mace an immediate attack to try again. Rex and the Klat take shots where they can. |

Tile wars consisted of: 58 [54] Spacetrooper x2 46 Reborn Shadowtrooper x2 39 Desann 37 Grand Admiral Thrawn 12 Garindan 8 Mas Amedda The original intent was to obviously rush my opponent with a Reborn and then swap out for Desann. In reality, I never got a chance to rush…my opponents all came to me and had to deal with Thrawn's Force Bubble. In Tile Wars, the bubble really feels smaller and caused a few headaches along the way. It was nice to have both of my Spacetroopers firing from the bubble with no chance to use Force on rerolls to evade or save against their missiles! It wasn't until my last match that I remembered I actually had another 4 points to build with. Oh well…that's what I get for grabbing a squad on the fly! In the final match, the telling moment was when I fired at Luke with a Spacetrooper, combined with Garindan and Thrawn so that I only needed a 3…and I rolled a 1. Game over! My tournament squad was: 54 Cad Bane 32 Talon Karrde, Information Broker 27 [26] Mara Jade, Smuggler 27 Lobot 24 Klatooinian Assassin x2 16 Dr. Evazan, Galactic Criminal 16 R7 Astromech Droid x2 5 Salacious Crumb This is a squad I want to work on a little more. I just couldn't get in a position to use Mara at her full potential and that hurt me in both of my losses. |
