Hello, im new to the star wars minis, i have only bought a starter pack of clone wars. And i want to add more figures to it! i love the game (i think im late with this but whatever) So wich booster should i buy, i have 100 bucks that i can spend freely and im planning on starting a collection; i can choose from this sets: -Revenge of the sith -legacy of the force -jedi academy -imperial entanglements -galaxy at war -dark times i want to have a variety of minis, so wich 3 sets of the ones above are the best? thanks in regards have a nice day comrades. |

Cool, welcome to the game! I would probably suggest Imperial Entanglements or Galaxy at War. Although, IMHO, you'd probably get more bang for your buck by looking on Ebay and getting a whole bunch of minis from the same seller (combined shipping)...that would allow you to pick the minis that you want and also pay quite a bit less money for them. |

i agree with Trevor. Try looking on Ebay but you'd probably want to figure out what you want first. Certain factions have go to figs like republic - R2 astromech, Mas Amedda (also vital for imperial), Yoda on Kybuck, Captain Rex Separatist - San Hill, Whorm Lothesome, Lancer Droid, Battle droid officer, Darth Sideous Rebels - General Dodonna (also vital for new republic), General Reiken, General Crix Madine, Luke Commando, Elite rebel commando, Princess Leia Imperials - Mit'thrawn'urodo (Thrawn), Mas amedda, Grand admiral thrawn New Republic - Ganner Rhysode, Dodonna, Fringe - Lobot, ughnaughts, mouse droids, R7 droids, Cad Bane The other factions are better supported by V-sets where you can proxy the figs with whatever you have. Once you have the figs above you can probably build whatever you want around your collection so you can buy lots from ebay. |

I agree with the list that fingersandteeth posted above. Pick a faction or two to start, and get the key pieces, and then have fun. But Ebay is definitely the way to go! And I'd suggest playing on Vassal too...it's a simple adaptation of the SWM game so that it can be played on your computer over the internet with a simple click-and-drag interface. Thanks everyone! i will take a look at vassal in the weekend, also i will check those minis you pointed out and look for the best prices... the problem is that shipping tends to be kinda hard, like 10-20 dlls(im from mexico) i have a deal that could be good: 4 imperial entanglement 3 dark times 2 jedi academy booster packs for 80 dlls is that any good? |

what is the exchange rate? 100 bucks for 9 boosters sounds kinda pricey these days seeing as you will have no idea what rares you'll get and its possible the guy selling them might have cherry picked. |

Always good to see someone new getting into the game. Let me see what kind of extras I have. I know I have an extra Mith(Thrawn) and Arica (both are great pieces for the imperials). |

i want to concentrate my minis on the empire vs rebels thematic, where do i start, how much can i get from 100(a little more or less) and supportive fringes? is miniature market any good? im really messed up :s thats why i want to buy boosters hahahaa also the random factor... i dont know i kinda like it. |

I totally understand the desire to buy boosters instead of individual minis. The randomness and thrill of opening packs is a big part of what makes collectible games attractive. Anyway, Miniature Market is a really good site, I order from them all the time. I don't know how good they are with international shipping, but shipping here in the US they're great. If you want mostly Imperials and Rebels, then Imperial Entanglements and Dark Times are probably best. Imperial Entanglements has lots of Rebels and Imperials, and also lots of the competitive ones. There is a Luke, C-3P0, R2-D2, Leia, Palpatine, and a Vader in that set, and lots of army builder types for both factions (Rebel Troopers, Rebel Commandos, Stormtroopers, Sandtroopers, Snowtroopers, etc.). As for Fringe, there is a little bit of Black Sun stuff, and then Dash Rendar, one of the best Fringe pieces in the game. Dark Times has plenty of Rebels and Imperials too, but they're more from the EU stuff (Dass Jennir, Jax Pavan, Kir Kanos, etc.). There is a Chewbacca and a Veers in there, too. But there is a lot of Fringe stuff in this set, including new versions of every Bounty Hunter from ESB except Boba Fett (Zuckuss, 4-LOM, IG-88, Zuckuss, Bossk, Dengar). Jedi Academy doesn't have a single Rebel piece in the set, and only 4 Imperials, so that's probably not a set you want as much. It's got a good mix of the other factions, focusing mostly on Force users (which is why it's low on OT characters). I would suggest buying by the case if you can. When you get a case you get 12 boosters, and are guaranteed (when you get a 40-piece set at least, which are all the sets after KotOR) to get 1 of every Rare in the set, half of the Very Rares, and I believe it was 1-2 of every Uncommon and 3-4 of every Common. So you get every piece in the set except 4 Very Rares, and have multiples of all the army builders. It's also a good price; right now a case of Imperial Entanglements is $110 on Miniature Market. |

You wouldn't need 2 Arica because she is unique (unless you just wanted the pose to stand in for someone else). Also, you will want a Mas Amedda to go with your Thrawn's as Mas has Booming Voice which extends the range of your commander effects. |

you probably also want some Elite Rebel Commandos (Legacy of the Force) as they work quite well with Crix, a Han Smuggler (from KOTOR) and a Princess Leia (Alliance and Empire) to give out free shots and you are getting quite a competitve squad. That also gives you a Han and Leia to sub in for the V-set pieces from set 4 (scum and villiany) which are also great pieces. |
