After playing this format once you'll wish that you had just played a normal skirmish. Don't say I didn't warn you.

At GenCon Moses (the head SWM organizer) got WotC to add the following rule:

All characters must deal 10 damage.

when we did it, we only allowed a certain percentage of the characters to have 0 damage and we had a limit on the amount of characters you could have

Wow, that's a great idea. I can't believe I never heard of it before...

Very interesting, I must try it out.

I've done a Utinni draft, or something similar to it, in other games.

Everyone brings X points in figures. All of them get dumped into a big pile, and then you roll to see draft order.

You go around and around and draft an army out of the pile until everyone has thier armies built. Then you play.

Of course, it really only works if people don't want their original miniatures back.

We do this all the time as dealing out figures that cost between X and Y points. The requirements are they have to deal damage, no reinforcement/reserve figures so for example, each person has to toss in 3 figures from 30 to 40 points. Deal out the cards randomly. Go at it either standard 1 v 1 or in a large free for all. Pretty funny to see all the overpriced CS Jedi doled out.
