Post subject:  Various uses of force push ( and repulse )

So now that we have had the set release, we now know the extent of force push. Everything can be moved, except the golan turret ( and the AT-AT ).

The main idea is to obviously do damage and to move the enemy. But what exactly can you do when you move your opponents beats around?

Here are the mini-strategies I can think of:

Pushing someone into a pit ( push only )
Pushing someone into LOS of your shooters
Pushing someone out of gambit
Pushing someone adjacent to a beat of yours
Pushing someone adjacent for missles, lightning, ect
Pushing someone to open a door
Pushing someone to close a door
Pushing someone for the pinball effect ( moving someone into position for multiple pushes/ repulses )
The pinball effect
Pushing someone out of cover
Pushing a character away from a healer/repairer
pushing a chracter to kill them
pushing a charcter to impare movement of your opponent. ( say pushing a huge of your enemy's to a square you know he wants to move to )
Pushing an enemy beat to escape
Pushing an enemy into a room and locking it
Pushing an enemy out of range of an important CE
Pushing an enemy too far away for its Lightsaber Assault etc.
Pushing an enemy away from its bodyguard
Pushing an enemy into Thrawn's bubble, a Disruptive bubble, a Traps bubble, etc.
Repulsing your own character to kill it at the right time - MTB, San, Ozzel, bombs, etc.
Deliberately catching your own character in a push/repulse effect to move it to a safer position (the damage is often less than taking the AoO, and the stunning is moot if the character is already activated)
Pushing an enemy under the AT-AT

So there is obviously a lot of uses of push ( and repulse, to an extent, but push is easier to use, and only replaces attacks )

Push is an awesome force power, and has many uses that greatly effect SWM. I know I love using push, ( especailly push 4 ), but it is limited obviously force powers.

This definetly changes the way the game is played. The times you can use it are limited, but there are many ways you can use it when you have the force points.

Any comments or other ways to use push are welcome.

Push is awesome....repulse is good but slightly less useful to my play style. I'm diggin this set and Obi

Yeah, those are a lot of good uses of force push, I like the one where you can push someone next to a beatstick the most, or pusihing someone within LOS of one of your best shooters.

Obi is the best character with Push, Luke takes too much, Maris is too weak when your opponent gets close and when Obi dies you get FS!

If you have override you can use Repulse (or Push to a lesser extent) to force them into a room and then lock the door.

I used Push to move an AT-ST away from a door in a sealed event on Saturday. AT-ST got no shots off that round because it was the only thing left to activate. :D Push and Repulse add such a cool, new twist to the game. I love it so far.

I didn't think of pushing into a room and locking it. I may make a squad around that idea. :D

Maris Brood is going to find herself in a lot of interesting squads.

Can't Push your own characters, but you can Repulse them.

I think Maris and Obi-Wan may be the only characters to use Repulse to move your own characters. Repulse 5 is just too much damage to take the risk, IMO.

Not to mention the activation part. Repulse 5 is nasty if you can get it off. Definately worth the R2 sacrifice.

If you can kill/activate a good amount of beatsticks or weak support it will be well worth loosing 9 pts. compared to a much greater amount your opponent looses.

@adder,
I think I'm going with boris on this one (shock!) and saying Force Push 4 is the best push.

I think that was Boris' position.

Push 3 (Loda) and Push 5 (Apprentice Redeemed) can move your own characters if they are adjacent to the enemy that is targeted by the ability. But I agree, you'll usually use Repulse when you want to deliberately move your own characters for some reason.

It is good, but IMO I think it costs just a bit too much to be the main damage dealer.

The best pusher for simply pushing is VAR. No question.

Maris is much better than Obi because she is fringe! Team her with Kota and she suddenly has the second highest defense stat in the game. Combine all those FP's with 4 attacks at a +12 and you got some serious potential.

Kota is an insane jedi. I really like the piece, and he really boosts minis that were previously a little lacking. ( zuckuss, for instance. A great mini, but needs a little boost ) And he is more reasonable with afinity for the republic, because you can use the doombot to devastate your opponent.

:( I know he isn't the best choice but I'm still diggin' Obi. I'm more of an OT guy though.

Oh no, I'd rather Obi too. For just pushing you should go with VAR. Obi is over all better IMHO. (OT all the way man!)
