You dissin' my Hyundai? :p

I call it the Red Dwarf... it has a bumper sticker "Australia: Love It or Leave It". Nobody gets the irony of my driving that bumper sticker around Malaysia.

Back on topic: I made the mistake of walking into a games shop today, after talking to the shopkeeper for a bit I felt obliged to buy something, so another loose FU booster. I told myself I'd wait for my delivery to arrive, I have no self control. Junk Golem and PROXY. Ugh. At least the mini has the common courtesy to refer to itself as junk. It's not that I hate Huge sets, or that I can't afford it (Star Wars minis is the one luxury I do splurge that bit too much on), it's that I hate the feeling of paying so much for Huge booster and pulling crap.

Wedge do you live in KL?

I lived there in 1986-87.... of course I was younger and spent a lot a time at a bar called Tahman I think.... oh yeah and the Pink Tablecloth restaurant

I was living there till last month, was there for a number of years. Now I'm in London.

Never heard of those places, they must be long gone now!

Which international school, ISKL in Ampang? Not too familiar with that part of town, I was living in Petaling Jaya (other side of KL). If you haven't been back there for a while you'd be amazed at the development in west KL, it's changed so much even in the time I've been there. You really could be in any city in the developed world now.

Yeah, sometimes it is a small world... then I realise I'm a 13 hour flight away from the rest of my family and most of my friends, and a 21 hour flight away from my hometown which I haven't been to in years. So it's still a fairly big freakin' world :)

Big 10 pride!!!! Do things come out quicker in the far east due to manufacturing proximity?

I like how WOTC are making 3 sets this year, now there isn't a huge lull between sets. All I can afford is one case and to get a few singles figs per set. Though now that Christmas is coming up maybe I'll be able to get a few extra figs that I need.

I admit it's not cheap. But, I like the pace at about every 4-5 months.

I think the Wizos are releasing the perfect amount of sets. 2-4 sets a year keeps the game interesting and new.

Personally, I would like to see the following:

1- new set each year
1- huge set each year
1- Star Wars Starships set each year
1- reprinted set each year.

that works out to be 4 sets per year, with 2 new sets and 1 new starships set. That would be one set every 4 months.

The re-release would help with collectability.

Eh.. actually for me it's not money.. I'm still spending the money, just on something else atm because There is NO one to play locally all a sudden. Least not on any day I'm Able to play (the local's all play on saturday, the ONLY day where i'm totally stuck at work).

at the point i have people to play again, I'll resume getting the stuff. plus all the stuff i missed.. I just can't justify throwing down what i was a month for them to sit in a box.

I think a huge set a year is too much. 2-3 regular sets and a scenario pack with maps is ok.

Sounds perfect to me. One "Huge" set a year is just two much, one every other year would be so much better.

I think Huges sets are here to stay. I would hope for only one a year.
If the next starships release does not remake the rules into War in Space (War at Sea), then I'm not buying any. I can pick it up cheap after folks determine the game play is bland.
Scenario packs with maps would be great. $20-25 is a great price. AoE was a wonderful concept. The entire player base gets access to DCI maps quickly.

My thoughts for a good release schedule:

Year 1 Set 1: Original Trilogy (with a couple NR, Vong, & Sith)
Year 1 Set 2: Starship Battles
Year 1 Set 3: Scenario/Map Pack (OT Themed with exclusives)
Year 1 Set 4: Prequel Trilogy (with OR and Mandos)

Year 2 Set 1: Fringe/EU/Huge set (with a couple OT/PT pieces, primarily huges)
Year 2 Set 2: Starship Battles scenario pack
Year 2 Set 3: Scenario/Map Pack (PT Themed with exclusives)
Year 2 Set 4: All-around set with movie focus (both OT & PT, minimal to no EU).

Repeat cycle on a 2 year basis. Set 1 would release in March, Set 2 in July, Set 3 in August, Set 4 in November.

For people who don't do SSB, the 3 SWM products are fairly evenly spaced. If they do collect SSB, then the scenario pack near release of a SSB set will only be a small extra cost over the SSB purchases.
