The last 2 years there was mass excitement surrounding the Regional season.

The first regional is in 5 days, and I've barely heard a peep. Are people going? Do people care?

I'm excited to go to the Owensboro regional. :D

But, my excitement at the moment is more like like apprehension, in that I'm on edge wondering what is going to happen in my life that prevents me from going yet another time. :(

positive thoughts, positive thoughts... :Falcon:

I know what you mean about the lack of talk and excitement about the Regionals. If anything, I would think it would be more exciting since we have a V-Set we didn't have to play with at last years regionals. I am definitely playing in Kokomo's this weekend (natch) and plan on several of us going to Michigan's in June...only wish KY's was not on the same day as we would have liked to attend both. I know of several players from relatively close by that have not voiced anything resembling a commitment to play in any regionals at all and am very surprised. We (Kokomo) had I think the 3rd largest regional last year but it seems to me last year's turnout will be higher for sure. There are many players from close by (Cincy), at least I think they still have some playing and am surprised they have not come or do not seem like they might come. There will be many fine players from Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky here so competition should not be at issue. Ah well, it will be fun with 8 or 28.

I agree that there hasn't been a lot of buzz about it this year. Maybe it's because we are at the point with R&R that people are getting more excited for that as we have shown a few full previews and are approaching a complete spoiled set list.

However, I can tell you that here in Atlanta we are excited as ever. This Friday we are leaving to get to the Maryland regional, and then in a month we have our own down here, then it's Kentucky and then Charlotte. So with 4 regionals that we are planning on attending it will definitely be a busy time.

Well I will be judging Kokomo again this year, then I am heading south to Owensboro to play down there. Word on the street that it is easier to go down there and win than going to the MI regional :)

The wife and I are considering trying to make it to the Owensboro regional again this year, but weve already got plans for that day, so I dont know if itll pan out or not.

Even if we do make it, I dont plan on doing near as well as I did last year, as I havent played in months.

If I do make it to Owensboro, I will be a spoiler.

I will either spoil your day by being lucky enough to beat you, or spoil your SoS.

Either way, you'll be hosed if you play me. :P

It's true.

Last year, I think Jason repaired like 3xs during the day to keep me and Kristen from playing each other. Cause of his generosity, I think I only faced one of our locals during the whole tourney, who I think was Bob.

Would have been two, but Carl forfeit to me instead of playing me. He said its cause he didnt drive that far to play me, but I know better. He was afraid of me openin that can of whoop-ass on him. ;)

Sadly I was hoping to play in my first regional, but not enough intrest in this area to secure enough people.

Being in charge of working on Regionals has made me very disappointed in the low turnout for events this year compared to last year. I think it's mostly that people have indeed lost interest in the game since WotC shut down, even with us doing the V-Sets we lost a lot of players. Hardly anyone in Cincy plays anymore, we're not even having a Regional. I sent out an email to 20+ players trying to get plans ready and not a single person responded to me :(

Trust me, I've tried to create buzz for the Regionals ;)

Planning the MD Regional has me very excited for it. Mostly excited for the amount of people I was able to convince to come. We've got Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and possibly New Jersey that are going to be represented there. And it's looking to be a huge Regional, hopefully, so I can say with some certainty that I am definitely excited!

I think part of the lack of excitement is just because there are fewer people playing this year than there were last year, when the game had just recently been canceled. While this certainly hasn't tempered my enjoyment of the game, I know of quite a few people who won't be going to Regionals because they haven't played in the year since last year's tournaments, which is really a shame.

Im sure part of it is from lack of interest after the game is dropped. The rest is cause some people are lazy and dont want to even give any input.

I had the same problem before the game died in our area. Id send out questions in an email asking people stuff, and Id have to ask 4-5 times to get more than 2 responses. Ridiculous.

(Dave, in no way are any of these meant towards you, lol.)

Why do all you Indianans keep forgetting Chicago? It's closer than Lansing or Owensboro for most of you, I certainly hope we get some out-of-staters for our Regional.

. . . Or is it that you're scared? It is traditionally one of the toughest in the nation.

Just trying to drum up numbers . . .

I am pretty much at the mercy of other people for travel plans, for a variety of reasons not the least of them being the cost of gas. So if they don't go, I am pretty much out too. I'm sure they feel the same about me.
