So, after buying a case of Masters of the Force recently, I'm left with 34 clunky, heavy, ugly monsters that I have no idea what to do with. I certainly don't think they have much trade value, and I'm not sure that they'd be very useful for customizing. What have you guys done with your superfluous battle-chess monsters?

The best use I've had is playing Dejarik.

I've printed colored stats for the 8 beasts on labels and stuck them near their feet. You can find the board and rules here and at other SWM sites. My son and I like the multiple d6 version as opposed to the d20 version.

When you're looking for a simple game for a few moments of fun, it's fine.

My wife works with autistic kids and I just gave all of mine to her to use with them. I think one kid is up to 5 Slugs lol.

If you dont want them I'd say donate to a school or something. Just be sure and keep a few for yourself :).

I plan to keep one full set of them for myself so I may play Dejarik if I like, so that leaves 26 extra uglies. I was hoping to confine my collection to two bins, but right now the Dejarik are taking up a 3rd bin (along with my Huges).

I wish I could see a V set use for them. Any idea's for set 3. It's in the planning stage.

Maybe just re-stat them all in V-Set 3, and call them things like "Mantellian Savrip, Savage Beast". Stuff like that.

Mantellian Savrip
Famous members:Kalhar, Mawkran, Clu, Taf, Mev

Grimtaash and Molator was a being from Alderaanian myth. According to legend, the spirit of the Molator Grimtaash protected the royal house of Alderaan from corruption and betrayal. (Perhaps some sort of sprit buffing Aldeeran Troopers.)

houjix was a fierce-looking creature that was loved on Kinyen, homeworld of the Gran. They were mild creatures and were often used as loyal, but cowardly pets. (some sort of pet to a royal or crime boss.)

Monnok
M'onnok The Hunter of Socorro (maybe some sort of CE for other Monnok's?

Sorry best I could think of and some are more stretches then other. though I actually like the Mantellian strip since there are uniques and my random Monnok idea... feel free to use ignore or piece apart.

Since they're recognizable and "meatier" than the other pieces, I've given two sets to two different friends who are Star Wars fans but who don't play minis. I know one of them planned to make a board for display.

I wound up keeping a bunch for myself, too, since I use minis in my Star Wars RPG and it's always useful to have a big bunch of critters to pull out (and based on the scale, some of the dejarik critters look pretty scary on an RPG map).

I had a few more of some of the commons than I wanted (I usually keep anywhere from 4-8 of any common, depending on how cool they look, how useful they are for RPGing or minis, etc), so I gave them to a buddy who runs a D&D game and once lamented that he wanted more big monsters.

A bunch of us actually play Dejarik with them. And me and a couple of others (Tim B. and Deri M.)created a pair of rule sets, one with a D20 and one that uses d10's. Dejarik is actually a lot of fun. And then there is the older D6 version as mentioned above.

One of the things I did ata FLGS is when they had a SW day, so it was all star wars games all, day of every kind we had a station for kids to make their own Dejarik boards and then we gave them a set of monsters to take home with them at the end. We gave away 9 sets of the beasts to kids and if we had not run out we probably could have given out 20.

It was a blast. I'll try to find some pics, I have links on my facespace....

And here is a link to an old thread about it...(there have a been a few small adjustments to even those rules at this point but nothing ground breaking, just minor tweaks to wording and sentence structure really.)
