well here are the very likely stats for ol' Knobby:

Knobby White Spider
52/60 UC
Cost : 38 ??
Pv : 110
Def : 18
Att : +8
Dmg : ?? (probably 20)
Special abilities :
-Savage
-Melee
-Melee Reach 2??
-Quadruple Attack
-Speed 8

http://www.swminis.fr/News-article-224.html

This sculpt looks cool, but the stats are pretty crummy. I had this piece in my top 5 of interest and now I regret it

The positive that I see if it has melee reach would be sort of an upgrade to the old Rancor as an UC. The down side?? It still sucks as a huge piece and is very likely 5 more points than old Rancor.

Power creep missed this piece

Seriously, Who cares about this spider thing when there's Revan.

Not really, for me it depends on damage. If it is 20 it wont be worth it. However, if it is 30 then this will be my new favorite savage.

Depends on what the full stats end up being.

I voted yes, because everything has potential. I want to run one of these on a Seps Squad and use Pawn of the Dark Side for the Quad Attack.

It shows promise, I think it may be about 2 ewoks too expensive, but Quad attack at 20 damage is always a good investment

Assuming damage 20, then this certainly has promise. I am happy that there is a krayt/aklay etc that is costed a bit more accurately.

Then again, its not really something that the stats are so attractive that it'll be worth playing a savage for.

If it had Melee Reach 3, then I'd probably wet myself.

Weather it's good or bad is of no interest to me. As a huge i am disappointed, there were far better characters they could of had instead. Also fringe has a lot of huge creachers already did not need another.
But dont get me wrong there are a lot of good things in this set, this is just not one of them.

I didn't quite feel that strongly about it when I thought of that possibility.

Even MR2 would be worth it. I think most people forget about the change to MR2 and how it helps savage. For example, now, you dont have to target the figure adjacent, or allow over to the one behind. Just ignore the ugo adjacent to you and quad on the big figure hiding behind it :)

I do believe that other bit of text is MR2. The text seems like the long form and "as adjacent appears" to be visible; it would make sense with those big long legs. I hope that is the case because it would help playability.

yeah but if your not adjacent to anything then you have to base that stupid ugnaught.

MR is better now, but savage still sucks. Huge is still a drawback.

This piece is no better than an Acklay. When was the last time you used one?

Huge savages have no competitive place, they never had, and while I am tooting my own horn, I think swapping critters is the closest they have EVER been to being competitive.

Too much can kill this figure in a round, it is the reason I retired Swapping Critters, my Rancors died too quickly. How is this going to last longer?

I agree that Huge Savages have no place in a competitive place.

However, I have a lot of fun running these squads against my friends. I think a few of these across he table will have a nice effect on them.

I actually lost against a 3 Rancor 100 point squad once. My figs were probably screaming when they were facing down those beasts.

My LGS ran a 200 point savage only game a while back. My first thought for that one was 6 Rancors just for the looks on my opponents faces when I showed my squad.
