This topic has probably been discused many times. People ask me this question all the time. Just wanted everybody's thought's on their favorite and why it is.

To be brave, I start of by saying my favorite is Episode 1: The Phantom Menace *gasp* I know what your thinking, how could I place it above the older films! Well for a few reasons.

1) I love the story
2) Love the Jedi and Maul!
3) I do believe very much that this is the most creative and imaginative of all the movies. (Battle droids is by far my favorite thing to ever be introduced into Star Wars)
4) I can never get enough of watching the Podrace. It took a lot of work in Lucasfilm to but that much detail into a very fast paced part of the movie.
5) I really like the end battles, albiet the space battle is no Endor, but it was cool to see Naboo starfighters in action.
6) Best lightsaber duel....ever!
7) Best music of all the movies! (Gotta love the Podrace arena music and Duel of the fates)
8 ) For a movie that was the beginning of everything in star wars, I thought it introduced characters well.
9) Beautiful work done of computer graphics! (It never ceases to amaze me the shots of Theed, I just wish they lasted a few more seconds!)

Now I know the acting wasn't super, but when I look back at this movie 20 or 30 years from now it won't look as terrible. And I know Jar Jar was to much for the kids, but hey....there's nothing wrong with that. Jar Jar was the first character ever in star wars that was designed to be a comic character. Young kids are then next generation of Star Wars fans the movie gave them something funny to watch.

Overall......great movie! I have to say though that Episodes 5 and 6 come close, cause they were great movies as well.

My favourite one is by far the best.

Episode V: (1) It has some of the best pecial features through out the whole movis
(2) The lighsaber dule between darth vader and lukes fight... And the whole luke i am your father thing
(3) The battle of hoth, nothing beats that battle, except the battle of the seperatists on Kashyyk
(4)The betrayal on bespin, Lando Calrissian, and the animosity between Leia and Han
Some people have there ideas some have others, but overall this was the best movie Lucas made, I'd say second was Phantom Menace definitely...

My favourite was Return of the Jedi for a long time, but now I'd have to go with A New Hope. The original and the best.

If I had to rank the movies;

1. A New Hope
2. Return of the Jedi
3. Revenge of the Sith
4. Attack of the Clones
5. Clone Wars
6. The Phantom Menace
7. Ewoks: The Battle for Endor
8. The Empire Strikes Back
9. Ewoks: The Caravan of Courage

So as you can see, unlike 99% of Star Wars fans I'm not a big fan of The Empire Strikes Back.
I prefer the original edits of the Original Trilogy, not the Special Editions.

For me it's too close to call between Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Close runners up are Attach of the Clones and The Empire Strikes back. The Phantom Menace is my least favorite, that said there really isn't too much of a gap between it and my favorite 3. Other than the pod races, Liam Neeson, Darth Maul and the young Anakin -who I though was quite good- there wasn't a lot that was memorable for me about the 1st film. The same probably would have been true for II, but all those Jedi in the arena, the awesome Jango vs Obi-wan chase through the asteroid belt and the stunning scale of the closing battle elevated it a bit for me.

I have to agree with that dude...

Episode V without a doubt. I've always been an Empire fan even as a young kid despite those cuddly Ewoks on ice.

After that it's Episode 4, then a very close 2, 3, 6 and a far far far distant Episode 1.

The one where Jar Jar goes to live with yoda. Where Yoda keeps talking backwards and jarJar keeps makking high pitch sounds and put his hands in the air and keeps moving his feet. So no one can understand what they are saying...

What? That never happened?

Well then I would have to say ep. 4 or ep. 6, both are good.

After reading about it, I'm glad I never saw it. I'm sure if I did, I would probably die.....whether from laughing too hard or dieing of grief I will never know.

A fitting end for that show's botleg copies would be to show a bunch of ewoks stab it with spears, throw it into a bonfire and dance to the ending music of Episode 6, celebrating its demise. Now that I would watch!

I have to go with 1-6 for favorite Star Wars movie

I like Revenge of the Sith best. I think they could have started the PT with that movie, fleshed it out some more, and ignored all the other stuff that made up Eps. 1 and 2.

Heck they could have done it as a stand-alone flick and it would have been great.
