Anyone on here ever played Settlers of Cataan? It is a board game that is completely addictive. I played is almost every night for a year a few years back and now have started playing it again. Just wanted to share in case someone is looking for a new strategy game fix.

Before kids, Settlers was my wife's and mine favorite couples game. It works well with 4 and 6 players. We only played one 6 player cities and knights game.

Cities and Knights is my least favorite version. The whole commodities thing is too random for my taste. My wife and I have played some epic games with her brothers and their wives, but they have moved away so I get my fix by playing online every other day or so.

I've got the Xbox 360 version. Definitely worth the few bucks I spent for it.

My goal in this game is to have the least amount of roads (this normally means the least amount of expanding and thus the least amount of points). Seriously, I have ended games at 6 points without building a single road (2 cities and largest army). I find the game to be fun, but the random factor is too high for me to truly enjoy as much as say ticket to ride (just played that game for the first time yesterday) or Power Grid or Railroad Tycoon or Diplomacy.

I played with 10 people once :) Two starters and one expansion. In two turns, one girl went from 20 cards to 5, from two sevens in a row. She rolled the second one, too :x

I've played it a few times. Nothing really exciting happened, a few really annoying plays by my opponents; one guy conquered all of the iron so everyone had to go through him to get it, not to mention the fact that Mountain was an 8 and he had two cities and a village on it. Then there was another game when one of my friends would have gotten 3 sheep and 3 wood on one roll of a three.

VERY fun and addicting game.
