Know any good music, post it here and let everyone know about some stuff you're into.

The Goat recommends you listen to these albums:

Systematic Chaos by Dream Theater

Sounds like- One of the best progressive metal albums your ears ever did hear.

Life's a Grave and I Dig it by Nekromantix

Sounds like- Psychobilly/Swing from hell. Fun stuff.

Murder Ballads by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds

Sounds like- Lounge music for a serial killer.. seriously good stuff though.

Amputechture by the Mars Volta

Sounds like- Rush with a latin twist, truly epic and progressive. If you are a fan of rock and roll I command you to listen to this album.

What the Toll Tells by Two Gallants

Sounds like- The White Stripes if they had a decent drummer.

New Wave by Against Me!

Sounds like- What a punk band should sound like when they finally "sell out". Catchy hooks and lyrically deeper than most of what radio is feeding you. Not as good as thier first 2 albums but still better than the last by far..

Okay now go out there and give this stuff a listen...

Let me add Minus the Bear on the alt rock front. Ex members of Botch that got tired of hardcore and decided to do prog rock. Great for the summer...

I just gave Minus the Bear a listen, wow! Really good stuff, thanks for mentioning them, I have something new to listen to now 8) I am bit deprived when it comes to music exposure so it's always great to be turned on to a good band I haven't heard yet.

I really like them now; not a whole lot at first since they seem so.....happy. The guitar work is magnificent though and the lyrics are just fun.

I may give the Mars Volta a spin. I was a fan of At The Drive In before they split. Once that happened I never bother to listen to Mars or Sparta. Lead singer seemed like a jerk off to break up the band.

I can't say I've really listen to much of At the Drive in, and Sparta IMO sucks, I just feel like The Mars Volta is musically superior to both. Thier first album is the one most people will dig, the second album Frances the Mute is where they started to get alot more experimental and not alot of of people were in to, cept me 'course 8) I mean its hard for people to listen to songs that last 16 minutes or so and are filled with acid trip guitar work I suppose... they've become kind of like an orchestra, thier sound is really dense and lots of different instruments. Give it a listen, you might like it.

I have some of their stuff on my myspace page on my playlist http://www.myspace.com/icarusashes

I listen to mostly classic rock from the 60s-70s. Some slightly more recent stuff I like is Stevie ray Vaughan, Bif Naked, and Garbage. And a number of things from Johny Cash.

I haven't been to a show in months but I just got back from Austin (the music captial of the world, but I personally think its better known for its 50 different pubs per square mile) and I got to see Zechs Marquise, a local band from El Paso. Fans of the Mars Volta might find them familar as they 2 of the zechs marquise members are related to Omar Rodriguez-Lopez of mars volta fame. Good stuff, progressive rock/salsa, if they are ever in your neck of the woods you should definately check them out live http://www.myspace.com/zechsmarquise

Here's hoping for a good show from Tiger Army tomorrow night here in SA

Yeah. If you can't find at least one of his songs that you like something is wrong with you.

Hurray 2 shows in 4 days. I feel like a teenager again

Tiger Army show was alot of fun, although I can't recommend seeing them live because, well they aren't very good live. I still had a blast

Didn't get the best pictures though, here's a crappy shot of the lead singer
Image

The opening band, Street Dogs put on a better show I think. Here's the lead singer crowd surfing to the exit during the last song.

Image Fun stuff, HORSE the band, Horror Pops, Gwar (!), 2 Gallants are all coming up this month. Now if only my work schuedule would cooperate with all those dates :D[/img]
I remember my first concert, summer of 99 I went to go see Metallica here in San Antonio. With my MOM, LoL. As matter of fact I've been to 2 concerts with her, that one and Creed. Come to think of it I should take her to another show, I just don't know what I could take her to now :?

Portishead is some wacky stuff. I liked what I heard from them way yonder in the 90's....

No good music exists after the '80s. Well, certain exceptions exist, but yeah... give me classic rock any day!

that's not truel you just have to dig through an extra 20 layers of junk since the early 90's. In fact I'll say that most music is contrived and corporate junk past the late 60's. Disco almost killed music for everyone.
