Well, from being banned a little over a month ago to being accepted as a Squad Critique Forum Lead today, its been an interesting couple of months for Billiv15. I dont really know what I am supposed to do, but I have 75 slots in my PM box now :r2line:

Hahaha, that's funny stuff man. Congrats. You're a perfect fit for Squad Critique forum lead. Good luck with it.

I got put on the waiting list. I knew it was going to happen, because there were already 3 rules forum leads.

To paraphrase a quote of one of my favorite movie characters of all time, Captain Jack Sparrow:

There'll be no living with (him) after this... :vader:

Uhh, Bill, I just checked, and you're on the waiting list...

Hate to be the one to tell you.

A rules forum lead?

What the hell does he do?

Congrats!

All I know is I got the 75 slot inbox on my account now. I have no idea where to even check for any such things.

I got that too. It showed up pretty much when they fixed that problem with new topics not showing up. I assume it's a standard upgrade everyone got.

Hmm, I was told I would be on the wait list, but apparently I got put onto the Rules section anyway. Just now browsing the restricted forum to see what I am supposed to do.

Yeah same. I dont know what Boris was referring to saying I was on the "wait list".

I can browse and post in the restricted forums now as well.

Post #28 is where to look. For reference:

Quote:
Since we are currently only allowing 3 forum leads per forum at this time some people have been placed on a waiting list. The people in red are currently active, the people in blue are on the wait list.

Your name is in blue, as are several others for SWM.

C'mon bill you want to be a forum lead and you don't even know where the forum lead is? :P

Seriously though that is WotC. You are not the only one who doesn't know where to look. There are some people who probably still don't even know they've been selected, and Mike (Gamer Zero) said that was by design.

I still don't know why I can access the restricted forum if I am on the wait list, though.

You can add me to the "and now what" category. No one has every really said exactly what we're supposed to do. Now the new VCL thing sounds like it'll be the same as the Forum Lead. Not really fixing the problems that exist but what do you do? Congrats to all who made it though :)

Because one has nothing to do with the other. Well, almost nothing.

The restricted forum is for those who want to be involved in the "directed discussion."

I am not a Forum Lead but I can access the restricted forum, as I requested that opportunity a long time ago (back when a very different plan was being developed).

Forum Leads should read this thread, particularly the last 3 pages:

http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.ph ... 362&page=3

I won't spoil it for you but let me just say... wow.

Anyway, to answer your question about VCLs. They are a separate entity from the Forum Leads, and how they will be chosen, or whom, hasn't been sorted out yet. I think they are just now starting to work on it.

The Forum Lead Program seems to have little direction and no explanation coming from Gleemax at all.

On one hand they claim the Forum Leads are supposed to help with providing information to the Community and making suggestions to improve the forums, but they don't offer any examples of how to do that or define the responsibilities of those chosen to do so.

The only thing I've seen that indicates my status at Wotc has changed at all is the fact I now have a 200 PM Inbox.

Other than that I think I can change some thread titles, but other than that no idea. I can't lock threads or anything else that might actually prevent some badness from entering the forums.

@Sithborg,
I'll be happy to resign from the Rules forums lead so it opens a spot for you.

And as Gamer Zero explains in the thread I linked there won't be any such direction coming anytime soon.

Don't expect too much more, unfortunately.

Yeah, it's definitely weird. Imagine running a company like that:

The management team meets and the head manager, "Dave," introduces "Joe," who is the Public Relations Director for the Company.

Dave: Joe is going to be responsible for organizing some of our customers as leaders of our new community outreach program. (others applaud)
Joe: Yes, thank you. I'm looking forward to the challenge.
Tom (a division manager): Can you tell us how it will work?
Joe: Well, we're going to send out random mailers to our customers and see who responds. Those people will get to be the ones who develop the program.
Kathy (another division manager): Sounds like a great idea, Joe. And then will those people become the community leaders.
Joe: Well, maybe. We're going to let them nominate the people who will be the liasons.
Kathy: And they can nominate themselves, then?
Joe: No.
Gina (assistant vice-president): But aren't all these people strangers? They're not going to vote for each other, are they?
Joe: I hadn't thought of that.
Gina: Eh, it's fine either way.
Kathy: So then what?
Joe: What do you mean?
Kathy: Well after they've nominated people then what?
Joe: We'll put the chosen people in charge.
Tom: How will those people know they've been put in charge.
Joe: Someone in the program will tell them.
Tom: So we're not going to notify them, or make a public announcement about it?
Dave: No!
Kathy, Gina, Tom: That's brilliant! Good work Joe.

That would be incredibly useful on the Rules Forum where people title their thread "quick question" all the time. I can't find a way to do it. When you have a chance can you see if it really works for you, and PM me here or on Wizards with how it's done?

Thanks!

That thread actually was pretty informative in its own nebulous way. Translation: Theres a big void with the change in WizO duties and we're trying to find a bunch of volunteers to fill it but right now we have no structure to it so you're sort of on your own in figuring out how to keep the forum you know running smoothly.
