Watched "attack of the clones" with my son the other day (his choice, not mine) and something occured to me.

Who paid for the clones? Did the Kaminoians produce a whole first batch of however many thousand clones before they asked for even one credit?

And if Sidious and friends made some sort of downpayment wouldn't the Jedi want to follow that up with the Kaminoians to find where the money had come from?

I would guess I'm not the first to think of these questions, they could well be answered in novels or comics I haven't come across yet.

Suddenly I feel like I'm in one of the "Clerks" movies.

There were a lot of plot problems with the prequels. You have barely scratched the surface. :)

I was under the impression Sifo-Dyas had been convinced the order needed to be placed (whether being tricked by Palps or otherwise), submitted the order and was later killed.

If Palps could keep all those jedi from figuing out he was Sidious for years, im sure he can cover his financial tracks well enough to get the initial order payed for without it being able to be tracked back to him.

I think Ive got a couple of the Rep Commando books and havent read them yet, so I might have to do that now, lol.

The mystery of the clone army's origins was explored in the novel Labyrinth of Evil by James Luceno. Sifo-Dyas, it turns out, had precognitive abilities and foresaw a war that would devastate the galaxy. Without telling the Jedi Council, he secretly commissioned a clone army to defend the Republic.

At this point, Darth Sidious made the clone army part of his plan to take control of the Senate. He ordered his apprentice, Count Dooku, to kill Sifo-Dyas. After doing so, Dooku covered his tracks by erasing Kamino and several other planets from the Jedi Archives. He then used his noble family's wealth to pay for the clone army and recruited the bounty hunter Jango Fett to be its template.

One of the few books I have read so far. I liked it, but don't have much to compare it to. :)

Trust me your better off thinking about other more important stuff. Lucus put 0 thought into it so thats about how much I'd put into it.

For a really analytical review check out redlettermedia.com's review of all 3 prequels. Viewer discretion is advised. So your son probably shouldn't watch those reviews lol.
