Hello all. I didn't know where else to put this. So here goes.

I'm having trouble downloading the new Mod. Whenever I download it, it's downloaded as a music file not a mod file.

Has anyone encountered this problem? And how do I fix it?

This is important to me since the only games I get to play are on Vassal. And right now I can't even participate in the GVL. =(

Thanks in advance.

it should be an MDX file. Your computer may think it is a movie or music file. That really isnt important as long as you place it in the right place replacing your old file all should be fine.

I've done that.

What should the file be named?

SWMinis 8-6.mdx?

And it should be in Program Files/VASSAL, right?

you can just name it swminis

Just make sure your Map Folder is of the same name swminis_ext or they won't work.

Yeah and program files /vassal is correct

Thanks. I believe I tried all that, but I'll try it again.

I'm off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of VASSAL.

It's not working.

Whenever I try to open the module on Vassal, it says the file cannot be found.

This is what the Program Files\VASSAL looks like:

doc
lib
unist
VASSAL
VASSAL
SWMinis_ext
SWMinis

The doc, lib and SWMinis-ext all have 'folder' icons. The unist icon is a red circle with a white x. The first VASSAL icon is a white box with a light blue 'magnifying glass' in the middle of it. The second VASSAL's icon is the typical green field with yellow V. The SWMinis icon is the music file icon.

the mod files is a .MOD file, not .MDX which is a mod extension file.

It looks like a music file to your system because your system is set to open .MOD files with quicktime becasue they also use that extension in RARE cases. (I've never actually seen one.) It doesn't mean it's really a music file; it means your system is assuming it's a music file and will try to open it with quicktime if you double-click on the file.

You can be nerdy, and reset the file association to whatever you want--like VASSAL--or to nothing if you prefer. Or you can just ignore it as it really has no effect other than double-clicking on the file which isn't the way you use it in VASSAL anyway.

You should be able to launch VASSAL and Open the SWMinis MOD file just like before.

Speaking of vassal help, when i download the mod file, it is a zipped folder, not a movie file or music file, will this cause problems?
