In just over a week (170 hours and 24 minutes, to be precise), we will be starting the 2013 Vassal Regional! I can't wait, because it's gonna be a blast! I can't wait to see how well my Ewok Swarm fares against the best that everyone else has to offer. :Ewok:

I don't often ask this type thing but I can't get off work until 3 est and was windering if a 330-4 est start could be arranged because I really want to ply. Plus that gives NZ an extra hour or ao to sleep lol.

Hmm, difficult situation. I personally have no problem starting later, but we've got a group of 10+ players now, and all of them are planning on a 2:00 start time. If some of them need to start then (and not 2 hrs later) then it's not fair to kick them out of the tourney so that someone else can join.

So I'm afraid I'll have to say "Sorry, no can do." Maybe ask your boss if you can come in 2 hrs earlier or make up those 2 hrs on another shift? I'd obviously love to have you join us, Matt.

I could potentially take a first round loss I suppose because rounds are linger than 60 minutes right?

I'd be willing to make that happen. Just sign up for the tourney the same way that everyone else does, and I'll see what we can do.

Hey, if it's all the same to the rest of the guys I'd even be willing to set it up so that you get the first round Bye. I'm not sure if that gives you an unfair advantage, but I know that personally, I'd always prefer to play an actual game rather than get a pseudo-win.

I'm unfortunately going to have to pull out of this. My weekend was looking tight before, but now more plans have popped up and then my fiancee got injured at a water park this past weekend, so life has just gotten too hectic. Sorry, hope you guys have fun.

Okay, I've PM'ed my squad and map choice to Weeks. Feel free to send in your information. Please note that I MUST receive your info by 1:00pm EST on Saturday, July 6 if you are going to play. You must also have the following installed and fully operational on your battle station:

-Vassal mod 11.0 (not 10.2, because it won't work)
-V-Sets Extension 5.1 (not 5.0)
-Skype

If you need help, PM me NOW. It's all easy to set up and install, but you do need to actually do it.

And the Vassal Regional Champion for 2013 is...

In the final match (on Cloud City) Tim was able to snipe Matt's Jan Ors out of cover from across the map, and that turned Super-Kyle into a virtually helpless kitten. After that Matt had a good ASM-boosted LS Throw to kill Tim's Scientist and put good damage on other pieces, but then ate a ton of blaster fire and the game ended soon afterward when Luke went down in a blaze of glory.

Final standings:
1. Tim Hight (Minitank HT)
2. Matt Spry (spryguy 1981)
3. Trevor Payton (thereisnotry)
4. Kerry Logan (kezzamachine)

Great tournament, great players, great fun! Congrats Tim! And special thanks goes to the NZ guys who were willing to wake up early for a SWM tournament.

Camaraderie lasts even if the character dies, much like Black Sun grenades lasts, even if the Vigo or Xizor are defeated.


Kyle doesn't lose those abilities, when Jan dies.

Wow, that is completely new to me. I thought it operated like a CE that couldn't be disrupted. Camaraderie doesn't say "for the rest of the skirmish." What does the Glossary for Camaraderie say? I can't seem to find a link to the glossary anywhere.

When Vergere gives Crab Armor to people it doesn't say for the rest of skirmish either, same goes for the Squip when it gives out stuff. That character "Gains" it. Where a CE the character is granted the special ability not given it. If you read Jan it says Kyle gains those abilities. She's brutal at 18.

For sure! When we were designing her I thought that Kyle would lose all those bonuses when she died, which kept her in line a bit. Apparently there's nothing keeping her in line.

Wow! I had no idea either. And I recently won a regional with her.

I protected her like Fort Knox, fearing the whole squad going to crap if she died.

Wow, now you have her up front doing her 80 potential damage, only losing 18points if she dies. That is nuts! That team just got a lot better.


On a separate note -

Big congrats to Tim!

Mandos are the real deal now.

Huh, I'd always considered it part of squad building, like Rapport. You don't suddenly go over in points when the guy granting Rapport dies, so I'd assumed it was like that.
