First off, thanks to everybody for coming out; we had 23 people, a pretty big improvement on last year's 16 people. 4 states were represented, with people visiting from Tennessee, North Carolina, and South Carolina. We had a group of Mandalorian Mercs show up for some awesome pictures, which will get uploaded later (hopefully soon). We also took a LOT of video and will be cutting together another even better video, similar to the one we made for the Kentucky regional.

Now for what everyone is really here for, results! The standings after Swiss were:

1) David W.: 12 pts. (4-1)
2) Ryn W.: 11 pts. (4-1)
3) Graham B.: 11 pts. (4-1)
4) Phillip G.: 10 pts. (4-1)
5) Christian T.: 10 pts. (4-1)
6) Matt S.: 9 pts. (3-2)
7) Richard L.: 9 pts. (3-2)
8) Stephen S.: 9 pts. (3-2)
9) Bronson M.: 8 pts. (3-2)
10) Jeff C.: 8 pts. (3-2)
11) Nathan J.: 8 pts. (3-2)
12) Ricky H.: 7 pts. (3-2)
13) Greg S.: 6 pts. (2-3)
14) Scott H.: 6 pts. (2-3)
15) Jonathan C.: 6 pts. (2-3)
16) Ben C.: 6 pts. (2-3)
17) Nick F.: 5 pts. (2-3)
18) Cliff R.: 5 pts. (2-3)
19) David G.: 5 pts. (2-3)
20) Phillip R.: 5 pts. (2-3)
21) Jeremy S.: 3 pts. (1-4)
22) Andrew R.: 3 pts. (1-4)
23) Phil C.: 3 pts. (1-4)

David lost to Phillip and Ryn lost to Graham in the semis, then Graham (barely!) beat Phillip in the final to defend his title as Atlanta Regional Champion!

Graham's squad was a Single Lancer squad from last year
Phillip's squad was a Naboo Trooper Death Shot squad
Ryn's squad was a Sith squad with Zannah, Traya, The Huntress, and Atton
David's squad was a Naboo Pilot Death Shot squad

I have all the squad sheets and will post full squads later.

Had a great time! I'm glad the practice Ryn and I put in paid off for both of us. We both drew the worst possible matchups for our squads in the semis (She was vs Lancer, I was vs a mirror squads but he had more dudes). I would have loved to of had an all Weeks final, but what are ya gonna do?

I played

Roll the Bones
23 Mon Mothma
21 Admiral Yularen
20 Captain Panaka of Theed
18 Klatoonian Captain
16 Queen Amadala
9 Doombot
72 x8 Naboo Pilots
8 Mas Ameda
4 Rodian Diplomat
8 x2 Spaarti Clones.

Writeup to come later. Basic Gameplan is to outact then tow/run 16 and base something. By round 2 you are anywhere you need to be slaying anything you need to. I like this deathshot build because it isn't fully reliant on deathshots to do damage. They only cost 9 so anything 10 or higher is taking 60 damage from one of them. 4 of the 5 games in swiss I played ended with Me being in my opponents backfield, and 3 of those I was in their startup area.

Beware the Naboo!

What did Nathan run? Sorry for the pedantic question, but I thought you'd be glad to know that someone's avidly reading the results enough to notice.

Red Squadron Ace x5
Green Squadron Rookie x2
Klatooinian Captain
Dodonna
Juno
R2 with sensors

Whoops, good catch! His squad sheet got shoved into the bottom of the bag and I missed it somehow.

Great regional as expected. Still kinda disappointed after going 4-1 and not getting into the top four. But it happens. :) I still had a great time.

Squad Name: Our blaster bolts will blot out the Death Star!
Map: Commander's Office

Thrawn (Mitth'raw'nuruodo)
General Weir
Lobot
Moff Nyna Calixte
Storm Commando x3
Admiral Pallaeon
Mas Amedda
Rodian Brute x2
Ugnaught Demolitionist

First round, I faced Ricky and his Single lancer and Poggle Bomb squad. I faced him with this almost exact same squad last year in the Charlotte regionals. That was the match that actually whoever won would be in the top four, and I lost out. This was an early revenge.
With Lobot, I brought in a salacious crumb and Momaw Nadon. This was a somewhat rough matchup due to him cancelling my Master tact and lot of activations. I dropped Ozzel for Grand Moff Tarkin so i wasn't acting one. I still feel Ricky out played me with his lancer and bombs. But, I was able to kill Asajj Ventress with a Stormy, which netted a bunch of gambit.(+10 damage from moff was helpful)
It was just a nitpick here and there for small gambit. It actually came very close, and I came out for a 2 point win. A VERY dirty 2-point win. 1-0 2 points.

Second round, I faced Ryn and her Zannah Sith squad. I outactivated her by far, and had superior firepower. We played on my map, and i dropped calixte for another commando. I took the inside, and she ran herself through the middle doorway on the left. I proceeded to shoot everything I could. I also rolled a 6 on init, giving me more fuel to the fire. I eventually moved wicket(brought in from lobot) and pallaeon down within six of zannah, and shot her to death. Traya took early damage, and backed into gambit, but was eventually shot down. The huntess didn't have much of a chance to shoot due to stealth, and ended up dying fairly easily. Atton proved to be the toughest to take down, with him sith raging at 40 a pop. But, it ended with me getting the 3-pointer. 2-0 5 points.

Third round, I faced Phillip and his Naboo Troopers. The dreaded naboos. I dropped moff for the extra power in a stormy, and kept in ozzel. Ozzel however ended up being a hinderance to me as he shot down my activations. Phil placed his 13 troopers with great placement, basically giving me the choice of killing a couple troopers and a stormy dying, or killing something else and dying anyways. I brought in swap fodder for more activations with lobot, hoping it would help. But, it really didn't. It came down to time, as i had to the best of my ability placed the pieces in strategic spots that could shoot and not be shot. However, he had bested me and won the 2 pointer. 2-1 5 points.

Fourth round, I faced Nick and his Mace/GOWK squad. I believe he was quite distracted in this game, as I took down R2 in round 2 and Mace in round 3. I brought in a R-4(the targeting droid) and wicket and made it to where Mace had a 14 D(he was seven away from an ally, another mistake) and shot him to death. I also rolled another 6 to bring in another stormy in this matchup. 5 stormy versus his squad just didn't pose well for him. 3 point win. 3-1 8 points.

Now, at this point, I knew i had a legitimate shot to get top four. I only needed a win to get in, as everyone told me(although now i see that wasn't the case haha). Then, they called out I had to face Weeks, the only 4-0 person there, and with a squad similar to the one i already lost to. It kinda distraught me, since he has beaten me twice now in regionals and i didn't have a single game on him. But, the game went totally different compared to what I thought. I noticed Graham had brought in mouse droids against Phil in his game and had great success. So, I decided to try it out. I brought in 4 mousers, an uggie, and salacious. I also swapped Calixte for another stormy. I positioned my pieces fairly close together with the mouse droids in front. I moved them into the room at the top, while weeks positioned his at gambit. We took shots back and forth, killing a piece here and there. I then noticed an open gateway to Mon Mothma. I took the opportunity and ran with it. I ran a rodian as far as he could go, swapped in a stormy, ran him as far as he could go, and stopped 2 squares from her. Next init, I deadeye'd her for good measure and dropped her. It got rid of the death shots and helped tremendously. He could no longer base my pieces without me killing them. For the next few rounds, I had a mouse droid wall blocking one side of the room, in which he missed shooting many times, while i was killing him piece by piece. Near the end, when we were running through rounds, he came close to killing Weir, so i swapped him way back for pallaeon. It came down to me with the win, but only a 2-pointer(If i killed Mas, i would have ad a 3 pointer and been in the top four). 4-1 10 points.

Had i known I NEEEEEEEEEDED the extra point from killing Mas, I woulda squeezed it out. But, this is the game we play :) I enjoyed it thoroughly. Out of my 3 regionals now, I have been 1 thing or another from top 4 in each of them. Next one, i must reach it. Failure is not an option.

Quick writeup

Spry, Ryn, and I left around 9am Saturday and got back around 3am Sunday. The whole time playing minis, so I'm taking a few days off from playing lol.

Round 1 vs Jeremy's Nightsisters

As he told me when we sat down it was only his 6th game he has ever played so he was still trying to figure out what was going on and whatnot. Rancors cost a whole lot more then 9 so the Pilots crushed him squad pretty fast. Final round I stuck a bunch of dudes beside each other so he could use his lightning at least once. I'm just that kind of guy. 15 minutes, 4 rounds, 3 points.

Round 2 vs Graham's Lancer

I won map (Spynet) and he took the right side. I stuck all my CE's in the cells at the bottom left and blew the doors so they would work. First round he strafes all my pilots + Klatoonian Cap/R2/Queen. He rolls a 20 on the last pilot and loses the lancer. So with all my pilots at 10 hp he was going to start sending in bombs to kill them. Not on my watch! I set up a barrier of Queen and my clones to ensure I didn't lose any pilots to his vast amounts of RickyTech.

Next round I tow a pilot and run 8 to twin without any bonuses on his lobot needing 4's, hit both of them and shut down his only door control. R2 Locked him down for a bit so I could knock out his MTB fodder and ensure Graham say some funny stuff (He says wacky things when he's mad lol). From there we whittled each others dudes down till my Panaka/Yularen/Padme took out Sideous. 45 minutes, 8 rounds, 3 points.

Round 3 vs Spry's Gungans

He won map and stuck me on Muunlist. I outacted him and towed a pilot 12 then ran 16 to base Darmin (read: I killed Darmin). Next round I was able to base 5 gungans with a single pilot and they decided to stab at it and bring it down to 10. He moves his Rex around and takes out 1 pilot and makes me deathshot his shieldbarrer and I fail the saves.

Round 3 of the game I win init and slay the shield. The 1 pilot taking on 5 gungans stays alive as backup finally shows up. I take out all but 2 of his gungans. At the end I had a Pilot run past Rex who decided not to attack it on the AOO so I rolled a crit and a hit to kill Rex. Then it was all my commanders on his side of the map chasing down his Padamomay and Tarpals. 20 minutes, 7 rounds, 3 points.

Round 4 vs Bronson's Lord Vader.

He won Map and sticks me on Throne Room. I stuck my commanders in the detention block on the right and put the noble in the doorway leading to mon mothma just to be even more of a jerk lol. I then charge straight ahead and ensure Jarael can't run past any of my dudes. I sit in gambit completely surrounding R2 with pilots and pick off his fodder then make a beeline for Thrawn. Vader kills 3 before he dies and Thrawn puts up a good fight taking out 2. 6 rounds, 30 minutes, 3 points.

Round 5 vs Christian's Commandos

I won map and decided to smoke some crack apparently and put Mon Mothma where he could easy kill her. Without deathshots I was severely outgunned. I made it close by using Yularen's It's a Trap to take a big shot on Weir for the kill with a pilot. I needed a 13 I got a 12, lame. Later on in the game I have a sweet move setup to where he either has to kill 2 pilots with a commando or lose it. He kills them and Panaka runs 6 to be within 6 of Weir (who is in Cover) a hit means Yularen and Padme kill the other commandos and I win on my 8 rounds of gambit. Of course he needs a 10 and I get a 7 and a 6. Oh well, should have played better so I didn't have to rely on dice. Good play by him to capitalize on my stupidity. Christian was the only player to beat either of the Weeks' in swiss (how is that not a trophy?) so congrats to him. He was able to back up all the smack talking he did, unlike the rest of the Tennessee guys, BURN.

Semi's vs Phillip's troopers

3rd Regional in a row I pull the worst matchup for my squad (Shanagins!). Only chance I had was to roll a 20 on init and have dice on my side. I got the 20 for init and brought in 4 Naboo Troopers, the game was turning in my favor. Then he rolls something like 8 20's and I roll at least that many 1's. He would probably beat me 99 times out of 100 in that matchup but that many 1's can get a guy down.

So I came in fourth, again......Had a great time and with both Ryn and I getting top 4 we got some great store credit to buy some Heroclix and a Dominion Expansion (Intrigue). Glad to see she did so well, but it isn't too far fetched as my awesome teaching abilities were involved :).

Looking forward to Charlotte Regional next. Hopefully I can win one of these days after clownstomping everyone in swiss.

I was able to watch a few games of Ryn's because I finished so fast so here's what I saw.

Round 1 vs Nathan

When I got there she had corrupted 3 of his pilots and Juno with Zannah and had Exar within 6 of all of them. They all died and zannah/Jaq/Traya were all left to clean up.

Round 2 vs Christian

She told me she messed up and gave him zannah too fast. I did see Jaq go down only after taking down 2 commandos. If Zannah had lived a little longeer she could have made it a game. He also hit a 6 and got an extra Commando.

Round 3 vs Steven's Gowk

When I got there Mace was dead and she had 0 fodder and all her attackers (Weeks wall!) she then turned on Suppression, Dark Aura, and had Zannah turn a Gowk Crit back on him. His Evason even stabbed GOWK to death bacause the save was now a 10! Funny stuff.

Round 4 vs Richard

Richard's squad was named #suckitweeks so he got his wish partly. The game ended with one really big phase of Zannah moving 8 and drawing a ton of Aoo's to kill Thon and Jaq Raging and hitting HK twice. Richard is a hell of a guy and ran his dudes into the middle so she could get a 3 pointer. You the man Richard.

Round 5 vs Jeff

I missed this one but she made a big avoid defeat save with Atton then killed mara with him and huntress. Then Zannah ran in and wore everything else down.

4-1 11 points. Not bad for a girl. It should also be noted she picked everyone elses map because she couldn't decide on one. Chicks got skills.

Weeks' Representin.

It's pretty similar to 2010's results isn't it? 23 players, same uniforms, 3 of the same players in the top 4...
