Well, it's official: pre-ordering starts today!
http://www.swtor.com/preorder
By pre-ordering you'll be able to start playing the game 3 days before its actual release, and you'll also get some other cool features.

Still no clear release date, though.

It's big enough news I doubt they will have a release date at Comic Con, but you never know. I do expect more footage though from the event. New Beta phase starts in the next week or so with a brand new build so we'll see what that offers. Based off the last build its not far off from a release client, but it needs a lot of tune ups. Figure it like an old car. It runs and gets you where you're going, but its a bumpy ride right now.

well the price is posted at gamestop,it's 149.99.

On the flip side I was dicussing the fact that everysingle group that is ever named in the books, comics, games, movies will be used for guild names. I also told my friend that the only way i'd play a bounty hunter would be if i could hunt down those players who couldn't think of an oringial name and so jsut took it from Star Wars related media

I don't think the specs have been posted but here's what Gamestop is saying:
Minimum System Requirements
Disk Drive8x or better *Minimum of 256MB of on-board RAM and Shader 3.0 or better support.Operating SystemWindows XP, Vista/7ProcessorAMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ or better · Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.0GHz or betterRAMWindows XP: 1.5GB · Windows Vista and Windows 7: 2GB · PCs using a built-in graphical chipset, 2GB RAM recommended.Video CardATI X1800 or better* · nVidia 7800 or better* · Intel 4100 Integrated Graphics or better*

The specs actually have been posted on the official SWTOR forums (same specs as you've quoted here); they're all included at the very bottom of the official Pre-order link that I posted earlier.

Didn't even think to look for specs, but yeah that looks about right. for what they seem to be intending. But I'd say go as high as you can go anyway, keep in mind that these are pretty much minimum requirements. The better your system, the better experience you will have. The graphics when turned all the way up can be very pretty, sometimes subtle details you would very likely lose on lower settings. grass blowing in the wind type stuff.

I know its just an in-game item, but I think having a STAP to fly around on is going to be amazing. Hi-rez on a 50" LED screen, can't wait to explore the planets they've created. :Anniepilot:

It's nice to see preorders are official. Getting close. Too bad you can only get the soundtrack with the 150 Collector's Edition. I don't value it at $90, since that would be the only reason I got it.

Also not preordering till more info on the payment plans come out. Still, getting close...

Well don't wait too long, collector editions for stuff like this goes quick sometimes, its hard to know the demand for an unreleased game. I went to Gamestop today and put in a pre-order. Right now Gamestop has a system bug and I didn't get the extra "pre-order code" for the color crystal and whatever. all they had to do was run it int he system a second time and I got it though.

so just a heads up if anyone walks into a gamestop

Yeah, I try to avoid Gamestop if I can. I don't mind if they try to push preorders, but practically insulting me because I didn't preorder an item, and almost didn't get it, is another.

Nothing official yet, though the talk on the SWTOR boards is pretty clear that since $15/mo is the industry standard, Bioware will likely not shoot themselves in the foot by increasing it over that. I'm pretty sure it's gonna be $15/mo.

Looks like if you pre-order you get a release date of 12/31/2011. We'll see. :r2line:

There has been no offical announcement of a release date, and therefore all dates are simply guesses or rumors.

At the recent Comic Con, the developers were talking about a "Holiday 2011 release," whatever that means...it could be in time for Christmas shopping (starting on Black Friday in the USA?) or on December 25 itself, or anywhere before New Year's Day 2012, since those days are also part of "the holidays." I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition from Amazon.com, who said that the expected ship date was in January. The release date has also been postponed a couple of times so far, so it could very well be 2012. However, I think that, based on the "beta-testing weekends" in September, we are getting very, very close to launch time. I'm pretty confident it will be in time for the holidays this year.

Oh, by the way, have we ever determined some way to let all our SWMGamers players know what server we'll be on? When I play, I certainly want to be on the same server as my SWM buddies and in a guild together.

$180 bucks a year to play a game? Eesh. Glad I stay away from MMOs.
