The Indy Knights, Indianapolis' Star Wars fan club, along with Fan Force is holding a charity breakfast at this year's Gen Con to help out author Aaron Allston (Legacy of the Force; Star Wars: Outcast) with his financial troubles from a massaive heart attack he suffered earlier this year.

The breakfast will be Saturday, August 15 at The Ram downtown from 7:00 - 10:00am. The tickets to the breakfast are $40.00 (with $20.00 returned to you in the form of a gift card from The Ram to be used as you see fit). To purchase tickets to the breakfast, go to brownpapertickets.com.

For more information on the breakfast, click here.

Lady H is working with the Indy Knights to help organize this. There have been a number of confirmed authors and other Star Wars personalities that have said they will be there. Hope to see many of you there, too! Although, I know the Champs start at 10, so we understand if you can't make it.

Nice, even if the only celebs are those three guys, they are some GREAT people to hang out with. I haven't met Mr. Stackpole personally, but I've always heard good things about him, and Mr. Allston and Mr. Denning were a blast to hang out with at Celebration IV.

Is it possible to show up the day of, or do you have to RSVP ahead of time? Sounds fun, and can always use the Ram card later that evening after the Championships. ;) Just not sure if I'll be wanting to get up early enough to get back to the minis hall by 9:30ish.

@ LoboStele:

answer: as we have to work with the ram to guarantee staffing, we would very much like to have as much advance notice as possible. keeping good relations with the ram is a very strong concern. additionally, there are operational expenses involved in any program such as this that make pre-paying a drastically preferable option.

I hope this answers your question.

All I'm officially allowed to say at this point is that there are more in the works. But yes, even if there wasn't, those 3 are more than enough reason to go, for those who read the books. Aaron and Troy are hilarious, and Mike is fairly reserved but very nice.

It sucks that it's the morning of the Championship, but that's the way it goes, I guess. In my opinion (so take it for what it is) tickets will likely sell out, so I personally wouldn't wait until the day of. That is up to the Indy Knights if they reserve some or not. As Steve said, though, having solid numbers beforehand would be preferable to the organizers.

I've had the honor of meeting Troy Denning twice at local booksignings here in Indy. He is a good friend of the Indy Knights, Indiana's largest Star Wars fan club, based out of Indianapolis. I also took a roadtrip to Chicago for Aaron Alston's booksigning for Star Wars: Outcast. It will be great to see them both again.
I believe this will be the first time for me meeting Michael Stackpole. It will be a great event, in any case.

***Charity Breakfast UPDATE***

The breakfast is moving along very well. Tickets are slling and we've got new guests to announce!

In addition to Troy Denning, we are pleased to welcome Star Wars novelist Michael Stackpole! Mr. Stackpole has a long history with Star Wars and has worked on several novels of his own.

In addition, Helen Keier, who has worked on Star Wars sourcebooks, will be in attendance as well!

Since it is a charity breakfast, what would be better than having the charity present? That's right, Aaron Allston will be at the breakfast in person to thank you for your generosity!

Please, invite all your friends even if you aren't coming!

***Charity Breakfast (FINAL) UPDATE***

For those of you worried about time, we should be done by 9~9:30.

Tickets will be on sale at the Indy Knights booth (#1903).

The more we sell before the event, the better prepared the restaurant will be for our event.
