So, what's going on Wednesday night? We always do something fun. RPG anyone? Other board games? I don't care, just know that no one has said anything about it, and we're FOUR WEEKS AWAY from the Big Show!!!! lol

I thought last year was really fun with just playing board/card games in the lobby of one of the hotels. I am bringing Dominion (I have Base, Intrigue, Alchemy, and Prosperity, although Graham has every expansion) and Citadels for sure. I could bring Arkham Horror (I just have the base, no expansions), but it's a VERY rules-heavy game so it might not be the best for Wednesday night, although it is one of my favorite board games of all time.

Between me and the other Atlanta people there are a few other games we could bring if that's what we decide to do.

As an aside: one of the reasons I'm bringing Dominion is that the new expansion for it (Dark Ages) comes out at GenCon this year, and I'll be hurrying into the dealers hall when they open Thursday morning to go grab it. If anyone wants to play a few quick games of it any time during the Con after Thursday, let me know, because I'm definitely looking forward to playing with the new stuff. :)

It was fun last year.

We just got upgraded to THE WESTIN!!!

So - let's use the Westin Lobby! It's RIGHT across the street from the convention center.

I'll post more details later.

Hopefully they'll allow for adult bevies at the Westin. Anyone up for Poker?

They did last year at The Marriott. I will check with them. Indy is pretty chill about such things in general.

This reminds me now as an FYI. Indiana is now a smoke free state. I'm not sure how much of a crimp that will put in you smokers, rather I think it will just limit where you can. Pretty sure that means you won't be able to go just outside of the Convention center and smoke on the sidewalk as I think that is still CC property, but would have to find a private establishment. It's a pretty broad and undefined law, there are some wierd loop holes for both sides. I know the drive in up here as defined the fact that they have a building (snack bar) on their property into making their whole property smoke free. You can only smoke inside your car now.

Maybe one of the smokers from Indiana can answer better.

As a non-smoker, that is awesome!

If its anything like the law in Chicago, you have to be at least 15 ft from the entrance of any public building.

But bottom line - smokers might want to look into it.

Hmmm... Methinks I'll feel bad about releaving you of all that gas money pitched in from Josh & Trev.

On second thought, maybe not too bad. ;)

You guys talk a big poker game, I wonder if your play can back up your mouth. Maybe I can call my brother (who plays poker professionally by the way) and see if he wants to attend Gen Con with me. At the very least he could have his trip paid for by all of your money.

Unfortunately, I am unsure as to if I'll be down Wednesday night, in fact things came up at work and with the family that I might miss the SWM championship, and might only be able to be there Saturday and Sunday. I will keep you guys posted as to what happens as soon as I find out, but boy what a crappy turn of events at just the wrong time.

Bummer Jake but home front & work priorities must take precedence. Hopefully things will work out and we'll see you b4 the weekend!

As 4 poker...

"Sometime you're the Louisville Slugger."
"Sometime you're the ball."
"Sometime it all come together baby."
"Sometime you're gonna lose it all."

That's how I paid for my trip to GenCon in 2010. "I'll call my brother"? Really lol?

My brother's bigger than your brother. He could beat your brother up, and he will if I ask him to. :P

I'm glad to hear this. I wish more states were "smoke free." It's not like 20 or 30 years ago when we thought, I don't smoke I'll be fine. If you don't want someone waving a gun around at you, you sure as hell don't want a smoker waving a cigarette around you. You're at just as much risk if not greater of taking the proverbial bullet. There's even evidence now to suggest that carcinogens are absorbed by fabric, making a smoker's clothes toxic to everyone around them up to several hours later.
