Good day,

Its amazing such a fun game based on a universe so well know is out there.

To bad I can't spend the money on it.

I play the game with my son (8 years old) at home only with mostly paper models. I have printed out quite a few of the free fan made maps. And with using paper models we are able to have all the minis both uniques and any number of non-uniques without hassle of rarity. Downside is we can't play at a store, but we aren't doing that anyway.

I recently found the SWM {CE} which lead me to here.

Glad to have found the site.

Check out Vassal (further on down on this site). It's on-line play.

Bloomilk.com is another site you will find helpful for squad creation.

Thanks Engineer.

I use Bluemilk a lot, especially since I can get to it at work but can't get to the WotC site.

As far as Vassel, its a continious game I assume. I currently play Blood Bowl by email, even though they have a java game running on line. I can't dedicate that much time in a block to it.

My son is starting to get decent, not meta, but I don't seek Meta anyway.

Vassel lets you pick any mini and as many as points will allow right? My paper models same way. It really makes it fun for him. He has seen the prices of models and felt he can't afford to get all he likes. But this way he gets all he wants.

Zephard, if you have the Star Wars Duels game their figures are roughly the same size as official game figures. Thats how we played with the RS Boba Fett and CS Mace Windu until we finally got them. It's also fun make your own maps...I've done some 3D stuff that I ran at HMGS conventions that was a lot of fun...we still pull them out to do mass battles. But even before that, my son and I drew our own. If you don't feel like gridding it, go wargamer style and just use rulers or tape measures to move. Don't dismiss the store and tournament experience entirely, though. It took me 3 years before I played in one (2005-2008) but now I love it. Still, the most important thing is to make it fun for you and your son...welcome to SWMGamers.
