Sweet, May 1st, I may be able to make this one. Will make for a crazy month. Need to make sure I tell my wife not to plan anything on Saturdays the whole month of May, lol.

It's official - I got the day off (Man I am gonna be on my managers s**t-list by the time this summer is over for requesting so many Saturdays off! It feels like nobody can do anything until Saturdays in the summer, and then it's all at once!)

I will be there!

PS - Jonny - might want to put 11 am as the regiastration start time. Doesn't make much sense to register after the tourney is done. ;)

Johnny,

I have completed my Excel file that will allow us to do pairings/scoring/standings based on the new 3/2/0 point system. I can bring my laptop with me on Saturday and help whoever is judging/running things to use the program if you're interested. I can also email it to you just in case something happens and I don't end up making it there.

I was just about to Pm you about that. I really dont want to bring my macbook since its the churchs so bring your laptop.
Can you try and get the excel file out to everyone that is running a Regional event just in case they didnt know you made one? I know if someone doesnt run an event by the 3/2 system its not the end of the world but it would be really nice just in case everyone running an event had a Pm about the file just in case.

Jon.a.brook@gmail.com just so I have it.

That's a good idea. I'll just PM each of the organizers.

I thought the 3/2/0 system didn't go legal until the DCI software was changed.

Speaking with 2 other Regional judges at the K-Town challenge, we all assumed it would use the 3/2/0 rules and that we would just have to be creative about how to do it. Most planned to follow what happened in Chicago since I told them Aaron would likely have the software there.

Dean instructed at one time that the Regionals and Gencon were to be done using the 3/2/0 system whether the DCI software was updated or not. I think the simple fact is, DCI and WOTC agreed to write the floor rules the way they did, because they have absolutely no intention of ever updating the software for us.

It's really not that difficult to do it by hand, I just created an Excel spreadsheet to track it. Honestly, doing the 3/2/0 scoring is a piece of cake. It's the pairings that are tough to program correctly.

Oh, OK - I didn't know that. Yeah - the pairings is the tricky part. I just sincerely ALL the regionals use that system.

Well all the regionals know that they have to use it. Lobo send out an email. They can do it by hand or use the program lobo made. The players might not know but I dont think its that big a deal.

Don't be surprised if there are a region or two that doesn't - I think most will be, but I still wouldn't be surprised. I know Chicago and Racine will be doing it. As to the others, that's out of my control.

Your statement about "waiting for DCI software" was true of WotC, but it is no longer true. As it is, they have given up complete control of the game, they are not participating in these regionals, and they are not updating the DCI software. If we followed that directive, the 3/2 rule would never go into effect. AS it is, we want all the regionals to use it, it's simply not that hard to do even by hand, and Lobostele made a program that even does pairings for it. However, if you play with the numbers, doing with DCI pairings doesn't make a big difference in the end results, so that's simply a minor point honestly.

Anyways, we are going forward with it, and I'm sure we will explain it to anyone who might be confused, uniformed, etc on Sat morning at Chicagoland games.
