Everyone has been great coming up with unique ideas for the first (or more) V sets.

Now I would like to ask that you post your non-unique ideas in this thread. Both commanders and followers are open game.

I think perhaps one of the best ways to come up with names and ideas for non-unique characters would be to go and look at all the cool Prestige Classes (and even enemy NPCs) in the rpg books. Infiltrator, Crime Lord, Martial Artist, etc. Add an adjective, such as Bothan or Black Sun or Zeishon Sha, or Old Republic, and you've got a creative new non-unique name that has plenty of flavor. Furthermore, when you look at the stats and templates for NPCs, you might also find some inspiration for creative SAs and CEs. Since the minis game was originally designed to work like a simplified combat version of the RPG, I imagine that importing many of those ideas might work fairly well.

Black Sun Infiltrator/Spy/Agent

Mandalorian Gladiator/Crusader, etc

Elite Mandalorian Trooper/Soldier/whatever

Jedi Sparring Instructor (CE: allies who spend FP to block/deflect/defense or reroll a save regain those FP if they fail their save)

Saber Duelist

Rogue Squadron Pilot (follower, with super-evade, or something flavor-ful)

Yuuzhan Vong War Coordinator (Commander or tech piece) booming voice for Vong SAs that affect Vong characters)

Really, the main need is more commander types that help existing followers in creative ways.

Jawa Leader
Ewok Leader
Tusken Raider Leader
Military Training Officer (something like: "Non-unique characters whose names contain Mercenary, Soldier, Commando, Assassin, (etc) gain Trooper" and then an additional benefit to troopers.)
Black Sun Recruiter (something like "Non-unique characters whose names contain Pirate, Rogue, Scoundrel, (etc) gain Black Sun.")

Vong Bodyguard
Mandalorian Bodyguard
(Either of those factions could actually use something along the lines of Yoda's granting bodyguard to wookiees CE.)

That would be a riot to have a Tier 2/2.5 squad of Yuzzems.

Fringe: Easiest to do.
Black Sun: some good options for new Vigos, but we do need new basic figs as well. Toss out the Black Sun SA on some interesting alien sculpts.
Definately could use some more Pirates, and Mercenaries can be expanded on a bit. I also agree that Tuskens and Ewoks, popular species with multiple figs can use a bit of an expansion.
OR: Easiest is to add more non-unique Jedi, though the Kota's Militia and Human Mercenary fit some of the OR soldiers from Tales of the Jedi. And goof bird makes a great Beast Rider of Onderon.
Sith: again, new genric Sith is the easiest. I think some of the Troopers could be V'ed to expand non Sith Sith squads.
Republic: V clones. Too many worthless ones. Definately need a generic Jedi General.
Seps: A bit tougher. Definately need to expand on the living seps. Quarrens, Aqualish, and the Neomodians are a good start. Also, Sep Death Watch figs from the Mandos could be fun.
Rebel: Definately Trooper help. Mon Cal Mercenary and Mercenary Commander need to be made into Rebels.
Imps: Enhance the specialty themes: Scouttroopers are the biggest one, but Sand, Snow, Storm, and 501st will be nice. Definately an Elite.
NR: The Mon Cal knight and tech into Rangers. Also, Rebels can be made into NR figs easily.
Vong: definately tricky. Vornskyr into Voxyn. Can make a few Humans and Duros into ifiltrators. A trandoshan into a Chazrak, cheap grunt. The knobby white spider into a Yammosk, with Booming Voice and/or Gregarious/GOWK like CE.
Mandos: really tough, since thr armor is kind of key. Not sure quite what the need.

Elite forms of the Troopers we already have would be pretty easy.

Black Sun would be a fun one to add onto. Human BSV, Chiss BSV.

I think Mandos would be great for non-unique's they have some of the better non-unique commanders anyway so why not give them a non-unique guy that gives them shields 1 or 2? I always remember their armour being super strong yet in game they get cut up by jedi like they are butter.

for Sith i think a Turn to the Dark side type piece would be good. Also a Good CE for them on a non-unique guy would be nice.

For OR i like TINT's idea for the "combat instructor" They are also Hurting Badly for shooters, Antarian Rangers are ok but other them them all they got is Atton thats T1. Maybe a OR Commando kind of a play on the Rebels ERC. Im not saying make them exactly the same im just saying they could really benefit from something along those lines.

I'd like to see some more durable units with empathy, a Pantoran senator with diplomat and empathy for the republic. And a fringe Dathomiri Witch.

Also, the Ithorian Commander's CE or something like it could make a number of figures in other factions interesting.

Especially the Yuuzhan Vong, put tem with Han storm and they get real nasty because of the abilty to charge and do damge.

I would think for VOng turn the Knobby White spider into a Yammosk, give the Yammosk dominate and something like doctorine of fear...the end of the first book shows how powerful they were mentally...heck we could give it traps too, not much of a fighter but it defends itself by weakening the resolve of those striking at it. Then it could grant charging fire plus add to it the booming voice. A decently costed Vong that hides in a room but allows the fighters to do there work more effectively. I could see it being mid range 30 points to higher based upon it's own stat base.

There's a lot of options. I like the ideas of expanding some of the "sub-factions". Imperial Knights, Black Sun, different species, etc. IMO, we should avoid "Veteran" troopers or stuff along those lines. Before we go to those, let's try to think of more substantial pieces. They don't all have to be game changing, but that seems to be the blandest option.

How do I scroll to 19 when there are only just now 20 posts? ANd I put my thought in there in agreement with some of the previosu ideas. As for Veteran Troopers, I see what you mean, but we need some kind of fodder upgrade or a different kind of fodder, and a few CE's are gonna be helpful too, it needs to be a mix.
