I also posted this on BlooMilk, but I know many people don't use both sites so I thought I'd post it hear as well.

I just spoke with PayPal. I have been a member for 10 years and have done $1000s of dollars of business with them. So, as a "professional courtesy" they gave me my $35 back (they did not give it to me from the "Chase Miller" account, but out of their slush fund or something like that -- so it was not technically a refund). But, it was a real hassle and will not be very helpful for other folks who paid over 45 days ago.

But, here is what they told me that may help all involved.

1. Everyone who contributed should file a dispute (even it it is over 45 days -- though it is easiest to get your money back if it is within 45 days).
2. They are now looking at the account for fraudulent activity based on the number of disputes already filed.
3. If there are enough disputes (they didn't say how many) and they find that there is reason to suspect fraud (i.e., that people will not get what they paid for or that the money was not used for the intended purpose), it is possible for them to give refunds to folks who paid over 45 days ago.

So, I encourage everyone who has not already done so to file a dispute ASAP. Nothing is guaranteed, but it sounds like it could definitely help more folks get their money back.

@Ruhk, Thanks... I appreciate Kickstart sucks (high commission and lots of opportunity for people to back out). But, obviously this new system is not without it's problems (I definitely appreciate the extra precaution of adding 4 people's names to the account, but that system is still not perfect for a variety of reasons... though, I accept it for now). But, hopefully we can all keep our eyes open for a better system in the future.

Now that I got my $35 back, I just sent a donation for $50 to the new account as I remain excited about the vSets and am looking forward to getting these three sets of cards. Thanks to everyone for their hard work dealing with what is obviously an unfortunate development. And, I'm especially glad those who may not be able to get a refund will still be able to get a set of cards.

I just got my money back - I donated more recently, so it was within the 45 days.

Something like, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Padawan?

Is he the owner of a Seraph-class Urban Landspeeder?

Will be donating for my set soon, just have a few questions first.

I will probably sign up for pointman duty for Denmark. But i have some in my group that don't have accounts here or with PayPal. If i'm to donate on their behalf and we make one large donation, do i just donate for X sets for myself or do i specify who donated for what?

Also, does anyone have an idea how much it will cost to send these sets internationally with UPS? We will probably donate for a maximum of 6 sets of all 3 products, but it would be very nice to know how much extra i should ask people to donate.

And one last thing. If someone in our group don't have the funds to secure themselves a set, but would still like one if there are any available when the time comes, where do i post that?

When you make your donation specify how many of each set you are donating for, following the guidelines on the first post on how much is needed for each set.

You can get a quote on UPS.com that will give you an idea of how much it will be for shipping. You may incur additional charges for brokerage, duties and taxes upon receipt.

Now is the time to make donations and request sets, so if someone wants a set but can't donate you can make the request but they won't be guaranteed to get one.

Thanks. It looks like postage will be at least $100 though :o

Will it be possible to get a shipping estimate before donating for postage?

you can get a quote for shipping by post at usps.com but I think they are looking for solid delivery confirmation which is why they specified UPS. I do not know the specifics of the their shipping procedure, if they have a UPS account set up they can use or it is just going to be done over the counter at a UPS store. You could try DHL or FedEx for quotes as well but unless someone has an account granting discounts, it will not be dramatically different. I have also used TNT Express before, and they are cheap but make sure you insure everything you ship with them to the tits.
