I'm certain we all know who Grand Master Luke is. The 115 point Luke from the set Jedi Academy 27/40 rare. but now the question remains...

WHO IS THE CHARACTER WHO SHOULD BE THE COUNTER FOR GRAND MASTER LUKE AND WHAT SHOULD HIS POWERS BE?

the following stat card is my idea for the rival to Grand Master Luke. i do not have a point rating however for i am not aware of exactly how much this character would be worth (though my guess would be about 120-125)

Darth Revan, Redeemed (Old Republic, use the Darth Revan peice all ready out there)
hit points: 240
defense: 23
attack: 18
damage: 20

special abilities:
unique, quadruple attack
rapport for Bastilla Shan and Alec (if they make an Alec)
synergy (also for Bastilla Shan and Alec)
everlasting love (+10 damage if a Bastilla Shan is in the same squad as this character)
style ultimate (+4 attack and +4 defense while three allies are within 6 squares, when hit by a meele attack this character, with a save of 8 or higher, can make an immediate attack against the attacker, scores a critical hit on a natural role of 18, 19, or 20)
Sith Hunter
Mandalorian Hunter
Greater Mobile Attack
Master Tactician
force abilities:
force 3
force renewal 2
Master of the Force 3
Force Sever
Lightsaber Defense
Light Force Spirit (when this character is defeated each ally with a force rating gains force renewal plus one.)
Lightsaber Riposte
The Unifying Force ( force 5: replaces turn, for the rest of the skirmish, all enemies and allies alike loose force immunity if they have it, and the Ysalimiri special ability is ignored for the rest of the skirmish)
Righteous Rage (force 1: +10 damage on all attacks this turn for this character) (yes this is the jedi version of Sith Rage)
Lovers Spirit 8 (when this character is defeated, an allied Bastilla Shan gains 8 force points)
Commander Effect:
All allies gain Sith Hunter and Mandalorian Hunter

That's not a counter to GMLS at all. It's Fanboy love at it's best/worst :)

I had to check my calendar. Nope, not April 1.

I beat GMLS every time I have faced him, which wasn't that many after people realized how bad he is.

In my experience, the best counter for GMLS is

Spoiler: show
Practically every figure that doesn't have melee attack

GMLS is an anti-melee machine but he has no need for a counter as any smart player will know how to face him and win. I have seen him used amazingly well, but there is just one group/style of figs that eat him alive.

Couple of things.

1. I don't really know if this was a serious post or not, but I'll assume it was to at least some extent.
2. The stat card would be an 8x11.5 sheet lol.
3. In general I like the idea of big beefy versions of main characters - sort of the "ultimate" or "epic" versions. Maybe one day we will do something like that with V-set stuff - who knows really.

Yeah that would be cool but probably not very practical.

Yeah, in my experience, every time I face GMLS it's sort of like that scene from Indiana Jones where some dude twirls his sword around a whole bunch and looks totally awesome, and then Indy just pulls a pistol out and shoots him.

I guess my games feel even more like that scene when I'm running Han.

I've love to see this happen. They did something similar in DDM: some minis had Epic Stat Cards (in addition to the normal cards), which were the super-awesome versions of the mini. You'd then use those epic minis in a high-point game (500 or 1000 pts).

I'd love to see uber versions of Vader, Palpatine, Mace, Yoda, Boba, Aurra, Mandalore-the-Indomitable-Ultimate-AwesomeSauce-Preserver, etc. Maybe they wouldn't be usable in normal skirmishes, but they would be a whole lot of fun in a new high-point format, or even in Boris' Epic SWM format.

Maybe if R&R goes over well, this could be a thought for the fall.

That would be great!

If it is going to happen, then we'll probably need to start a separate/different thread than normal, where we explain the design concept of those pieces (whether the whole set or 20/60, or whatever), and then ask people to suggest the minis who they would like to see in an ultimate or epic version. We would also have to playtest and define a new Ultimate Format or something (possibly similar to Boris' Epic SWM?).

Thanks for all your excitement. Lets get R&R out and Gencon finished.
