I don't think you did the damage correctly. You should get half your char level plus yor strength bonus, then +2 for LS Specialization. So, should only be 2d8 + 5. With the two handed attack, then you'd be 2d8 + 6, for just doubling the strength bonus. |

well It may be so. I'm using a spreadsheet set up to generate characters, so I picked weapon finesse, it may be set up that it uses weapon finesse to modify the damage bonus to be the dex bonus, I'm not sure. |

Weapon Finesse should only affect your attack score I think. There's a separate Talent under the Melee Duelist class that allows you to use your Dex bonus to affect damage as well, but I don't think Weapon Finesse allows for that. |

You're probably right. Stupid excel sheet. I think i'm better off using a real character sheet! Still, as a Jedi (think Guardian) hows the character? On Par, if there a better feat/talent progression I could start with? |

I think that's a good mix of things to start with. Looks like you'll want to go with Dual Weapon Mastery at some point though, so you can attack with both the standard LS and the Shoto. Double-check the books though. I think there's a shoto that does 2d6 damage instead of the smaller 2d4 one. Or is it the 2d4 one that gives the +2 bonus to Deflect/Block perhaps? I can't remember without digging through the books. I like taking Block/Deflect as my first two talents personally. But Elusive Target is also another very good one, IMO. LS Specialization is not my favorite, as honestly, +2 to Damage doesn't really help you that much, especially once you get to higher levels. The only reason I took LS Spec on my current Dawn of Defiance character, is because it's a pre-requisite for other stuff. Honestly, it looks good as is. Just sort of depends on what direction you're planning to take him, what Prestige Class you're shooting for, etc. |

good idea on the talents, yup Dual Weapons is the goal, I set up the Shoto(its the +2/+2 block/deflect one) with a crystal to give an additional +2 to deflect.. so I hope that would help out with his somewhat low-ish Def. I don't particularly have a prestige class in mind.. just kind of setting up some 'base' character templates if I want to use them someday EDIT: I remembered where the extra +2 damage came from.. he's got a self-built LS with one of the +2 Damage crystal (not going to bother looking it up, i know there's at least 3 of them.) |
