I've recently begun production on a 3D Ruined Jedi Temple map. It's been a few years in concept and have been gathering materials over the last few years.

About 2-3 years ago, I started to produce statues made of resin cast from molds of Hasbro 3 3/4" Jedi/Sith & from Lord of the Rings toys from Burger King.

Then I discovered some lights called Dioders from IKEA and the concept began to take shape.

The final process was going to be getting/gathering enough tiles and parts to form a Ruined Jedi Temple...along comes Higher Ground Games and I have some HUGE progress to report on my 3D map of a Jedi Ruined Temple.

http://www.highergroundgames.com/

The model map is 30" x 40" on foamcore board, mounted on a wood frame and hot glued down to it. The lights were cut in and wired on the under side. All the lights were secured with hot glue.

So far, I have placed 140 1"x1" tiles and 88 1.5"x1.5" tiles.

Currently, Higher Ground Games is making a mold and beginning casting for 750 more 1x1 tiles to complete the floorplan.

After I get the floor tiles placed, I'll begin to map out just how the Temple will flow.

My hope is to have the Ruined Jedi Temple on display at Origins this Summer.

I've posted some earlier photos of the production thus far on Photobucket.

Feel free to check them out.

Thanks.

Very early stages.

More production will be done once I get the HUGE order for 750 1x1 tiles.

I'll post some pics later today of all the statues I've made too.

The bases that the smaller holograms are on was made from the AotC Yoda Hasbro figure pack-in base that came with him. I made a mold of both pieces and then casted 8-10 of them.

Hey Brian, I just realized something...you should touch base with Lackey (Bryan Creehan) to ask about the plaster molds he uses for all his 3D terrain stuff. He makes the tiles himself, and then you can do all sorts of neat tiles and add-ons and stuff like that. Plus, probably cheaper than buying already made tiles and having them shipped to you. I'm sure those can be heavy, so shipping isn't cheap, huh?

Actually, it hasn't been bad. I've actually been able to work 1-on-1 with this guy and each time I've ordered I've gotten free shipping. That has been nice.

I will touch base with him though, thanks for the resource.

Began the initial construction of a tomb last night. I was able to build two sarcophagus' and the end result will be like this:

I am also in pre-production to create my own 1"x1" tiles to allow the floor plan to be lighter than the heavy ceramic tiles. It should lighter the load on transportation. As well, I am going to mass produce my wall bricks and pre-assemble them to be arranged however I'd like when we go to play.

Ahh..the Hirst stuff is what Lackey uses as well, so sounds like you're already aware of it. He's created some neat stuff for our RPGs with the Hirst stuff. The modular things like walls, computers, doors, etc. are really cool because you could pretty much create the map however you wanted to. Would make for a fun sort of scenario build. :)

Yep, those are my intentions.

I am going to bring it to Origins this year for display, then 2010 will be a scenario based game like Shawn & Bob are doing for Hoth & Endor.

I will also have my Geonosis Arena on display as a preview for next year too, when we have a scenario for it too.
