My club runs a lot of demo scenarios, both in stores and on gaming conventions.

You don't need large maps and 150 p squads when you're trying to explain the rules for a beginner and fast scenarios might often work better. So a small map (17x22) would be great.

The map should have all basic features like walls, low objects, difficult terrain, pits and doors. The map should also have 3x3 starting areas (2 of them).

The map should be of well known movie locations that could easily be turned into scenarios with SWM characters. Locations and characters always attract new players and I think OT would work best.

Map: Hoth/Snow caves/Echo Base. Snow caves leading into the damaged Echo Base. Let a wampa attack our heroes or let Hoth Troopers defend the base against advancing Snowtroopers.

Edit: Old map removed.

Is this what you were asking me for? This shouldn't take more than a few hours to put together.

Yes.
Does it look ok? I placed the setup areas on the same side to avoid a big shoot out in the corridor. Bad idea?

looks good, but you shoud just flip the wampa cave upside down so that set up is in opposite corners.

Is this better?

Edit: Added pit.
Edit 2: Larger Setup areas (3x4), large friendly (Wampas!).

Looks good!

I take it you don't really want it to be a huge friendly layout? Thats fine by me. This will be a fun little map to keep handy, I may even keep one for myself :)

No huge on this one. This map is for demo and education. Perhaps for just 40-80 p depending on scenario.

I forgot pits... I'll try to add one in the cave. I'll update soon.

Should we make this a SWMGamers map? We could add a small logo in the right bottom corner (ice square).

For teaching purposes I'd also add some beveled corners to the "angled" walls in the wampa den so you can teach how diagonal movement is allowed across beveled corners but not standard ones. (Perhaps positioning a green square so you can avoid it by a diagonal move across a beveled corner would be a nice teaching aid.)

I'm going to build this for you, lex, and you can run with it. It's your map I'm just putting it together so If you want to make it exclusive thats cool.

It thought this might be perfect for you article you were talking about.
