Wow, just making my way through my season 4 DVDs.

The episode "The Box" is such a blatant rip off of a little known movie called "Cube"

I wouldn't call it a "good" movie . . . well this review says it best:
"Shoddy acting and a semi-weak script can't hold this movie back. It's simply too good a premise and too well-directed to let minor hindrances derail its creepy premise."

Anyway - yet another sign that Dave Filoni is a hack

a group of people wake up in a "giant cube" and have no recollection of how they got there andas they try and find a way out continue falling victim to booby traps and getting killed off. Everyone gets paranoid about others and don't know who to trust, etc?

I'm pretty sure that's the film you are talking about. Definitely fits the profile of shoddy acting overcome by good premise and directing.

The Cube rules (in it's own kind of awful way). My Youth Group used it as the premise for a Youth Group movie we shot and entered into a local filmfest. Three of our local minis players starred in it. We rule.

Yeah I kinda love Cube as well.

Which is why it's so annoying that Clone Wars ripped it off so blatantly with the season 4 episode "The Box".

Seriously - did nobody else make this connection?

There are many in Clone Wars. Some seem a little more upfront (homage or inspired by). Others (and this feels like that to me) seem to be as if they are presenting it as an original idea (rip off).

That seems to be the major issue with the entertainment industry, no new fresh ideas. Let's just remake or copy instead of investing the time. IMO

Yes she was. I was going to ask who she is, but I IMDB'd it.

I assume you know her from Deep Space Nine?

Yeah DS9 was where she first showed up but I believe she's Canadian, as she was on some other stuff via CBC.
