Personally I don't think that you need to do any fixes to your custom.. Its very nice, I just thought id share my version with you, it was part of a customs competition.. it was based on an idea of a "Handler" and its savage beast... anyways i just thought id share it with you as it may give you some ideas..

Alchemists Mettle: (Force 5, Defeat 1 Savage Character in your squad, this character gains 2 Force Points. Characters defeated in this way gain Emergency Savage Support for the rest of the skirmish. (Make two saves of 11 at +4 to the Result, that character is not defeated and it has 20 HP)
Alchemists Revenge: (Force 5, Replaces Turn; Savage Characters in your squad heal 30 HP and gain 1 Force point)
Commander Effect:
Savage Characters in your squad get +2 attack
