I was watching the movie Gettysburg today, glanced over at my minis, and suddenly I had a great idea.

Why not make stats for people from the American Civil War?

Robert E. Lee, General of the Army of Northern Virginia
Winfield Scott, General of the Union Army
Thomas Jackson, General of the II Corps

And then, I could make some what-if stats too.

Robert E. Lee, General of the Union Army
Arthur Fremantle, General of the British Army

And so on.

Anyone think this is a good idea? (Although, it really makes no difference to me, I'm taking this idea and running whether I've got support or not :P )

ehhh I can't say I'm a fan of the South; it bothers me that Lee has MT. I'm from VA so don't write this post off as some New Englander nonsense :D Gettysburg is a great movie though.

Not really related to the minis, but I visited Gettysburg in November and it was unbelievable. It was an experience my wife and I will never forget.

As for the minis, I think it makes sense for Lee to have MT since the concensus is that he was a military genius.

Right here is where I'm gonna have to add this disclaimer (I'll edit it into the original post too):

This is not a pro-slave or anti-confederate thread. This is here simply for gaming pruposes. In this, both sides will be equally represented to avoid any thoughts about favoritism.

If you aren't mature enough to handle this topic with an open mind, then do NOT post here.

These are all very cool. Nicely done!
I'm looking forward to seeing some of the soldiers!
(Some artillery would be very cool, as would cavalry.)

I'm a new englander and I respect the South a great deal. They fought for what they believed in and did so honorably. It was more than just over slavery, they were fighting for the sovereignty of their home states above the federal government. I can respect that and forgive the fact that they were slave owners.

I loved that movie. Minor bit of extra pride since I'm a Mass-hole. I'm sorry to say that due to some kind of scheduling fluke I learned nothing about the Civil War in school. Pre-high school I managed to get the slow teacher each year so by the end of the year we always ended up just before the Civil War. Classes in High Scool here start with the reformation period right after the Civil War. I was great on the Revolutionary War though. I still have part of one of my class projects (23 years old) hanging on my wall.

The generals from the Confederacy were tactically superior than many generals of the Union. Many battles ended in a "Union" victory due to the inability of the Confederate army to maintain the logistics needed to support a sustained offensive. Therefore, I disagree with the Rapport abilities listed for the Confederate generals.

Sorry, but I believe many have a simplistic nature of the events surrounding the Civil War. There were many different reasons surrounding for the war and many states had their own purpose for ceding from the union. The slavery issue was a part and only a part of this. So before any discussions further delve into the motivations for the War, please read up and assert informed comments. And I am not sure how you rate 'fought honorably'. This is the same mind set that many had when they sat and watched the battles as some type of picnic event. There were major stages and changes during the war. At the end, the actions of both armies became in question to where the leaders of armies/platoons/brigades began using the men under their command to assert their personal views.
