Close, but not quite. We should end up with about 50ish out of the 60. As much as I'd love to get all 60, I'm not changing the VRs that I only have 1 of. Boba Fett RS, Bastilla, Revan, Jacen, etc.

But we do have a few more to work on as well, so not done yet :)

What is the base figure you used for Joruus?

Human Body Guard for the body, added a left over piece of something for the beard, and changed arms to random left over parts from God knows what.

Looking nice, Bill!

Might I suggest you take the next step in your journey? Washes. :)

You can buy the actual 'Washes' like Badab Black or Ogryn Flesh from Games Workshop, or you can use a really watered down black or brown. Then you use this to cover almost the whole piece. Use the brown for flesh areas, and the black for all others. You can even do washes with other base colors like blue, red, green, purple, etc. The watered down paint basically tends to stick in the low areas of the model, and really make your features pop. This especially helps on things like faces, cloaks, armor, etc. Helps your 3-D features stand out better.

Also, looks like some of the models could use a coat of matte clear coat. Might just be the photos though.

Oh, and is it me, or does the Mando Gunsmith look like a Power Ranger? :P

No, it isn't just you :P

But seriously, I'm really enjoying looking at all these customs people are posting. Great stuff. :)

And with the addition of those, I think we are done with DotF. I know there are still some missing, but they are the ones that I either don't have the right mini for, or aren't willing to paint over the old version. I hope to keep working on the rest and eventually have 60/60, but let's be honest, I'm not going to ever find a Boba RS for dirt cheap to paint :) I might make a Jodo out of a Mando something or other at some point, that's probably my next one - but I didn't see any Mando figures that I thought would look close. Jando CS would be good, but he's already been used for Jaster and I don't have another. Any suggestions?

I know nothing of washes, and all the Games Workshops around me closed down a couple of years ago. Whenever I get the chance I'll try to check out some hobby stores for these "washes" things. As for the clear coat, I have a spray can of glossy sealer, which now that I'm done, I intend to paint onto each mini (it was way cheaper to buy the spray). Should I not use gloss even though it's supposed to be totally clear?

And speaking of the Mando GS - I now have two just like it and I totally dig the power ranger look - that's what Erin was kind of going for. I told her I wanted these guys to really stand out on the battle field, and that's what she came up with :)

What I'm thinking of doing is:
RCTS body + Mando Gunslinger head + Flobi's Jetpack = Jodo Kast

I was thinking Rex, but I only have one at the moment, and I haven't pulled him out to see if a repaint and head swap would be enough to make Jodo the way I want. And I don't have another ATC :)

Ok, I remembered I had an extra CS Jango Jett Pack attached to a Duros from an RPG mini I made long ago. So I cut that off, cut off a Mando Gungslinger head and hands and attached them to a Mando Captain body I had used for other pieces. I'll have Erin paint it up tonight and get a picture up when its done, but the gluing actually looks really good.

Nice!!!

Also looks like you're starting to have some good success with Green Stuff, based on how Cilghal turned out. :)

As for the clear coat....I stay away from gloss like the plague. You want a MATTE or FLAT clear coat....unless it's something you really WANT to look glossy. About the only thing I can think of that I would want glossy would be something like metal, like on C-3PO. For clothes, exposed skin, hair, mando armor, etc....definitely want flat/matte.

As for the washes....you don't have to use the GW stuff. Just take some regular black acrylic paint, but a little dab of it on your palette, and then add some water. Like a 4-to-1 ratio, water-to-paint, or something about like that. Try it out on a few pieces. It will quickly become evident as to how it works.

VERY nice work, Bill and Erin.

I've got my wife to sit down one time and paint with me, but that was for her own RPG piece. She has too many other hobbies and interests to keep her busy. But that's really cool that you can do it together.

As for Salacious....I'm probably going to try tracking down an extra Jabba at some point. Cutting off Salacious wouldn't be so bad, especially if we end up doing a non-Unique Hutt or a Ziro or something down the line. I highly recommend NOT trying to cut the Monkey Lizard off of Hondo. I nearly lost a finger that way. It came out nice, but it was a LOT of trouble.

I've got two scars on two fingers from cutting the head off a Techno Union Warrior; now a workglove is standard equipment in my customizing kit.

And can you post a picture of that Salacious Crumb?
