Hello,

I recently got into SWM, and I'm trying to build a couple of basic 100pt squads to A) help me learn the game, and B) get my friends interested. I have a random assortment of pieces from Rebel Storm and Alliance & Empire boosters, the current starter pack, and pieces from ebay auctions.

My goal is to make the squads not too complex, roughly evenly balanced, and something that will evoke the movies. Everyone who will be playing (including me) is fairly new to SWM and mini games in general. I'd appreciate any feedback or alternate suggestions.

For Imperials, I'm thinking it is hard to beat the image of Vader and a bunch of stormtroopers:
# Set Name Faction Cost HP Def Att Dam
-- ----- ------------------------------------ ------------ ---- --- --- --- ---
4 Darth Vader Imperial 47 140 21 14 20
39 RS Stormtrooper Officer Imperial 14 30 18 8 10
24 RS Elite Stormtrooper Imperial 11 20 16 8 20
5 Elite Stormtrooper Imperial 11 20 16 8 20
36 RS Stormtrooper Imperial 5 10 16 4 10
38 RS Stormtrooper Imperial 5 10 16 4 10
37 RS Stormtrooper Imperial 5 10 16 4 10

Stormtrooper Officer
Trooper followers within 6 squares get +3 Attack if they do not move this turn.

For Rebels, I'm thinking the 4 main characters:
# Set Name Faction Cost HP Def Att Dam
-- ----- ------------------------------------ ------------ ---- --- --- --- ---
9 RS Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight Rebel 27 90 18 10 20
13 RS Princess Leia, Senator Rebel 13 40 15 7 10
7 RS Han Solo Rebel 28 80 17 8 20
45 Univ Chewbacca, Rebel Hero Rebel 30 120 17 9 20

Princess Leia, Senator
Each follower that ends its move within 6 squares of this character can move 2 extra squares at the end of its turn.

Those squads would give a little taste of everything (shooting, melee, combining fire, CE, force) but the games shouldn't last too long. My friends tend to err on the side of overanalyzing, so I don't want them to have too many options to have to consider. That can come after they get interested.

Thanks,
--Winin

Thanks for taking a look, Fool. Is the campaign a downloadable and play-on-your-own sort of thing or a live Vassal sort of thing? I'd appreciate either. I just got the Rebel Storm scenario book, but haven't played through any yet.

Cool, I'll look into it. It is hard enough getting my friends to play the skirmish game, so I doubt a campaign would work, but scenarios might make it easier to get them to play (instead of "OK, you are on that side, I'm on this side, and we have to kill each other".)

I meant more in terms of keeping track from one game night to the next. :) I'm going to try to come up with some scenarios with the above squads and the maps that I have just to mix it up a bit, e.g. the heroes are in the cantina when they get word that Vader and his troopers have arrived in town. They have to get to the far corner of the map to escape, etc.
