I was wondering if the knobby white spider would be a good piece for the exar salvage team?

Nope.

Exar works best with Uggies that go Boom and a MTB now. Savage and Exar will never work that well.

(Although a Ramp Wampa with an MTB and Exar may be able to do something.)

Its the best savage to use with exar. But their are better non-savage figs to use with exar, such as the ones that flea said.

Completely agree, now that the MTB is out, savages are sort of unusable... :(
I'm not sure about the wampa, though. Might be something to try.

The Spider is a decent scrub killer but it's not going to hit most high end characters. Reek or Gundark are still the best Savage options for Exar IMHO.

The Gundark, IMO, was never really the best choice, and definitely hasn't been since A&E and the Rampaging Wampa. The Wampa can do as much damage as the Gundark, but from 6 squares away. I think with the MTB now, that is definitely the best choice with Exar, since it gives you a perfect way to both win key initiatives, and to kill off the MTB when necessary. However, having that nearly guaranteed initiative also means it would be relatively easy to set up some nice Wampa ambushes for 80+ damage.
