Here is the scenario we're running in Des Moines this weekend:

3 maps, 2 of the Clone Strike Starter blank map and the Geonosis Arena Pit map. Set up as blank, pit, blank. 6 squads of 400 points each.

The 2 blank maps will be like the outside battle. There will be no cover on the board, but there will be a line 8 squares out from each short end of the map which will act as a shield.
Separatist and Republic Forces can set up anywhere behind their respective shields. Anyone can move freely through a shield, but no one can attack or replace attacks through a shield. If 1 character ends its turn behind the enemy's shield, that shield comes down.

Arena-the arena battle will start out with the 3 beasts, controlled by the separatist player, and the 3 heroes. Once 1 beast gets killed, then all reinforcements arrive on the board. Balconies will not be in effect for this scenario.
Anakin, Obi-wan, and Padme set up in the middle of the arena pit. The nexu, reek, and acklay start at each of the 3 doors on the pit area of the map. Once a beast is killed, the Separatist player will set up his reinforcements anywhere on the board. Then the Republic player will set up his reinforcements. The clones must set up in the pit area, and the jedi may set up anywhere on the board. Once a beast is killed, a new round will immediately start with the reinforcements being placed.
Beasts-Beast attacks will be resolved before either team may activate. if a separatist and republic character are each adjacent to a beast, each player rolls to see which side the beast will attack. The higher roll will be the attacking player. Repeat this for EACH attack the beast can make. If a separatist and republic character are equidistant from the beast, roll to see which character the beast will move to and attack.

General Kenobi's CE is battle wide.

Movement: Once the main character of your enemy's squad is defeated, you may move freely between the maps. However, your main character may not leave your map until all of the enemy's characters have been defeated.

No comment on how balanced the teams are since its 4:30 and any sort of analytical thinking is beyond me. Other than that it looks like it would be fun to play out if you had enough of the scrubs for the squads and time to play it out.

Between Lady Hothie and I, all of the minis listed are in our possession...sick, I know...:P

And we'll have roughly 4-5 hours to play it all out. With the scrubs all being 10hp, I think they go down quickly, so I don't think time will be an issue. And there are enough characters with flight that neither side can line up along their shield Braveheart-style and hide, hoping to wait for the others to come to their rescue.

My analysis, the Republic is out-manned, but they have the higher hp, damage, and attack values. The arena pit will be their big Custards last Stand battle. The beasts don't count for either side, yet will attack the jedi at first. The seps in the arena mostly are melee, so I've chosen non-unique jedi with sweep.

And on the plains, if you run your character to take down the opponent's shield right away, now his entire army is attacking whoever is not behind your shield. I think it will be fun.

Sev and the Homing Spider droid are the only accurate shooters, but the spider does 30 damage, so Sev has to be very careful. If I'm republic, I take out the overseers as quickly as possible, then maybe the BDO's and the SBDC.

Well, the Separatists used their activations to great effect and won handily. I played the arena seps against Lady Hothie, and she was the last republic player standing. It took less than 2 hours to play out.

Afterwards, we decided Windu's CE should be battlewide, and there should be clone reinforcements each round.

In 2 weeks we're doing Hoth, using just the minis that Lady H and I have. But that won't be enough you say? Just wait...
